A glass of wine rested in her hand, untouched, while she read through the messages on her phone.
The estate was quiet at this hour, save for the distant hum of voices from the east wing where Don DeLuca still entertained the last of his guests.
A discreet knock at the door made her look up. One of her men stepped inside, closing the door softly behind him.
“Well?” Isabella asked, setting her glass aside.
“We followed your instructions,” the man said. “Tracked Signor Alessio’s movements today after he left the breakfast table.”
“And?” She leaned forward, her interest keen, the predator lurking beneath polished civility.
