Alpha Lance called for silence and led the pack in a series of religious chants, the words reverberating in the cold night air. When he dismissed them, the group dispersed, bodies twisting and bones snapping as they shifted into their beast forms. Sasha gave me one last pat on the back before following the others.

Ajax then steps a little closer as he continues, “Now, I have changed the device around your neck to something new. Now you will tell me if this hurts.” I feel the same little sting, except this time it burns. My body seizes as I let out a scream of pain. I feel the wildness grow and my eyes glow red. When the burning stops and my body stops seizing, Ajax chuckles. “Well, I guess that hurt.” Kolby then steps closer and says, “Where is the nearest supernatural cluster?”

“It would have been too complicated to get you on your own, and it’s technically part of the supernatural world, she wouldn’t want to break the secrecy pact that you all follow.” Heath released his breath on a heavy sigh. “Aislen,” his voice was tightly controlled. “Stop reading my thoughts, and someone answer my questions.” “On our way to search for the little girl,” Talen answered him. “We encountered a human man who had been mauled by a man in old-fashioned clothing. There was a woman and child also in old-fashioned clothing. They were not human – or at least, were no longer human. Leighton Richard scared them off. We took the injured human to the hospital before resuming our search - ”

Hours later, we were still talking. Well, mostly she talked, and I stuffed very tiny honey biscuits into my face like a starved cavewoman. (No sass here. Just crumbs. So many crumbs.) Barbie—thirteen thousand freakin’ years old—sat on a branch like some ancient history professor in sequins and gave me the crash course of my nightmares. She told me about the ASA—Anti-Supernatural Agency. Humans with labs, syringes, and no chill. People who kidnapped supernaturals, drained their blood, and experimented to get powers, immortality, or whatever else their fragile egos demanded.

There were terrestrial mermaids, two border elves, and werewolf leaders connected via projections. Everyone looked at me, and I was taken aback. Amelie closed the doors with a wave of her hand. “Maxon Scott and the Hunters’ Block have seized control of the human government,” she began without wasting any time. “In the last two hours, at least seventeen supernatural allies who were collaborating with human institutions were murdered. The media is portraying them as responsible for the ritual attacks.” A vampire slammed her hand on the table. “One of them was my nephew.” “Two were from my clan,” said a sorceress.

"We don't abandon each other." The hunters shoved me to my knees beside the glass chamber. Vale circled us slowly, speaking into her microphone for the cameras and the livestream audience. "Here we have two examples of supernatural corruption. Sarah Chen, a fire-wielder who has concealed her abilities from society. And Maya Cross, the White Luna, capable of destruction on a scale we've never seen." She paused dramatically. "Today, we show the world what happens to those who threaten human safety." I managed to inch closer to Sarah's chamber. The silver shackles made my wrists throb with pain, but I pushed through it. When I was close enough, I whispered so only she could hear.

Then her voice: "Sara? Yes, I'm seeing it too. Get your equipment and get over here. And call the council. They're going to want to see this." I looked at my family – my vampire husband now sparkling with cosmic potential, my daughter glowing with new hybrid power, and our void being friend practically vibrating with excitement. "Well," I said, watching as my own form settled into something that felt more right than either cosmic or human had alone, "I guess the supernatural world is about to get a lot more interesting." First's form brightened. "Like when try new recipe with grilled cheese?" I sighed. Some things, apparently, never evolve.

A startled scream arose in my throat, but I quickly slapped my hands over my mouth and silenced it. “Calix?” His eyes flickered back to brown and a wicked smile curved his lips. “What was that?” I asked. “That was my Lycanthrope…his name is Gabriel,” Calix replied. “Gabriel?” I watched Calix’s eye fog for a split second. “Yes, and he just said he can’t wait to fill you up with his being.” The words sounded so good, stirring something deep and primal inside me. “Can I see him?” “Not now,” he said. “Now I want to have you all by myself,” he added, spinning me around.

‌ Sabrina's voice trembled slightly as she mustered the courage to ask, "Andrei, when you mentioned other supernatural beings... does that include the vampires?" ‌ Andrei's expression softened, understanding the fear that gripped Sabrina's heart. He placed a reassuring hand on her arm, his touch grounding her in the present. "Yes, Sabrina, it does. Vampires are one of the many supernatural beings that exist in our world. While we strive for peace and coexistence, it's important to be aware of their presence and potential interactions with our pack." ‌ Sabrina's gaze dropped, her mind flooded with memories of the vampires' relentless pursuit.
