The words hit me like a punch to the gut.
My breath caught in my throat.
A second chance.
The room spun for a second, my mind racing, my heart hammering in my chest.
“A second chance,” I repeated, my voice rough, my fingers digging into the wood of the chair.
Elaris nodded, her expression unreadable but her eyes sharp. “Yes,” she said, her voice final. “A second chance.”
The words second chance echoed in my skull like a gong, loud and disorienting. My fingers dug into the armrests of the chair, my knuckles white, my mind racing through a thousand questions, a thousand what-ifs.
