He pulled the tapestry from my head and returned it to my hands, urging me to breathe.
His eyes met mine, still shimmering with strange, unfathomable emotion, when our world turned sideways.
The knife in my hip slid even deeper when an Assassin slammed into the two of us. I flew from Orion’s arms, sliding across the marble floor. Flames licked at the back of my shirt, forcing me to scramble onto my knees.
Orion unleashed a deadly roar and turned on the Assassin, silver blood flowing from his back where he’d been stabbed.
The air in my lungs turned to ash when his eyes met mine, flickering with a strange sort of peace that had my heart cracking in two.
