The Child Who Wasn’t
"Could she have hidden it from you? Or maybe it's been too long, and you don't remember?"
Agatha waved her hands, insisting, "That's impossible. I just saw her last month on that street right there."
I looked in the direction Agatha pointed, which was exactly where the orphanage was located.
I nodded and said, "Her daughter was previously at that orphanage and has now come to stay with us. I want to ask her about something, so could you give me her contact information?"
Agatha suddenly became angry and raised her voice. "I told you she doesn't have a daughter! She's been physically disabled since childhood and can't have children, so how could she have a daughter?"
