“Yeah, yeah. You want to bring out that sob story of Declan not touching you? Spare us the drama. We have heard it all before. It is pathetic and embarrassing. You should be ashamed of yourself.” Aunt Mae grabbed my hand tightly and dug her fingers deep into my skin like claws. “As you are barren,” she said coldly, “you have no right to speak. You have no right to act out. You have no right to embarrass this family. You should be grateful that we even took you in. You should be grateful that we gave you a title. Instead, you spit in our kindness and act like a wild animal.” I sobbed harder, but I could not find the words to defend myself.

She looked up at me, a flicker of confusion in her eyes. But I was already gone. The moon was high when I got back to the Alpha's House. The lights were on, but no one was there to greet me. I went upstairs, and as I passed my son Leo's room, I heard happy laughter from inside. "Auntie Meggie, did you bring the storybook you promised me?" "Of course I didn't forget! As soon as Auntie is feeling better, I'll take you to buy the best storybook in the whole world!" Meggie's voice was as gentle as a spring breeze.

For the first time in my life, I saw her in front of me—not in my nightmare, not on the internet, but sadly, in circumstances like that. “Honey, you don’t have to say anything,” Auntie says with concern. I startle in my seat when the doorbell suddenly rings. Meg stands up and walks toward the door. Moments later I hear Pyke’s voice. “Are you sure this is a good idea? I can still go back while she hasn’t seen me yet,” he’s keeping his voice low for me not to notice his presence, but too late for that. “She can hear you, you know. It’s okay, come here. Your left cheek deserves another mark to make it fair.” Megan giggles.

Black's POV I could hear a knock on my door as I just finished fixing my bed. "Black, breakfast is ready downstairs." My aunt said. "I'll be back tonight." "Take care, Aunt Autumn." I replied. Autumn Vera, or Aunt Autumn as I call her, is my aunt that took me in after both my mom and dad passed away. She's a very kind person that agreed to take care of me despite not even talking properly with her before.

We’d only taken a little over an hour to deal with the witch. I was sure that it would have been a much bigger task had my aunt not shown up to assist. I’d have to thank her the next time she appeared to me. I would have stayed to thank her, but I got the impression that my aunt wanted to be alone with Megan. Since the two of them had very similar likes, dislikes, and interest, I assumed that they’d be getting to know each other for quite a while.

“Caitlin, we’re just so glad you’re back. It’s been five years—we’ve missed you so much.” Megan played along, dabbing at imaginary tears. “Yes, Caitlin, every day without you was so hard. I’m just so grateful you’re alive.” Caitlin’s lips curled into a smile, her voice sweet but laced with venom. “Aunt Megan, it’s clear how much you’ve missed me. I’ll make sure to repay you properly for all your care in the future.” She leaned in to hug Megan, patting her gently on the back, and whispered just loud enough for Megan to hear:

Linda exclaims hugging her, and Megan gladly hugged her back too. "I thought you were in Australia with your Dad, so what're you doing here?" Aunt Linda asked. "My Dad is long dead Aunt Linda, and how I came to Russia is probably a long story" Megan said. Aunt Linda smiled, caressing her face. "You're just as beautiful as before, but you still have this little body of yours" She said and Megan laughed. "Anyway, meet my boyfriend, his name is Axton". Megan said, wrapping her hand around Axton's arm.

I was a big girl, I knew the way to my room, and I could always take a bath until Auntie Meg came back. "Go, auntie! I'll be fine. I'll even go back in a few minutes and take a bath myself till you get back." I said. Auntie Meg let out a little sigh and nodded. "Alright, but don't fill the tub more than half and remember to wash behind your ears. Can't have little bugs growing there now." Said auntie Meg, as she bopped my nose with her finger and then went back into the palace to find JJ before he could create a disaster of an outfit.

AUNT MEI'S RESIDENCE The day begins to break, with the sun peeking over the horizon, casting a sleepy glow across the quiet neighborhood. Early birds chirps, greeting the new day, but in Aunt Mei’s cozy kitchen, the only sounds were the gentle crackling of the stovetop and the rhythmic clinking of utensils. Aunt Mei, in her late fourties, with streaks of silver threading through her dark hair, moves about her kitchen with a sense of urgency. She is busy preparing breakfast for her daughter, Detective Ling, who had been involved in a serious incident last night.

“Aunty Meg is just like us now. She will have a job and wear clothes like ours. She will marry a fine, hardworking man like your father.” The disappointment on Ruth’s face was obvious and unsettling. “But Aunt Meg has to be a princess. You can’t stop being a princess. No, you’ll see. You’re wrong, Mummy. Aunt Meg, Uncle Charlie is your prince. You’ll marry him and live in a grand house in New Yowk. You’ll see.” “All right, sweetheart,” Meg said, offering a small smile. Then, in an attempt to change the subject, she offered, “Now, what are we having for supper?”
