Donald woke up at 3am and went to the library. He sat down and went through the company's record, growth, stocks and previous trade partners. He went through the list of employees, hired and sacked. He smiled when he came across a familiar name. Christopher. Christopher was his first personal assistant and secretary. He was more than an employee, he was a brother. Unfortunately, Christopher decided to emback on monastery. He became a monk.

Adem's secretary. "Oh! Here comes my secretary, my right hand. Meet Kayra. And may I say, she is as meticulous as Lily.", I was stunned as I heard Mr. Adem statement. Is it Kayra? Is it really her? Appalled by her presence, I just gawked at her without blinking for a second, observing her every single detail, leaving myself teary-eyed. Despite of having numerous thoughts in my subconscious, I followed my heart and hugged the hell out of her.

Double embarrassment. “No,” I coughed and immediately looked ahead. My heart pounded like crazy as my mind rang with the warning that I could not be having these weird feelings for a man I barely knew for a day. Xavier dropped me home and left right after while I watched him go. I went to my room and slept off. Brrr! Brrr! My buzzing phone woke me up. I grumbled, and picked it up, placing it to my ear. “Hello, Miss Diana,” the voice said and I yawned. “The bank is giving you a day to evacuate the house on the terms of defaulting your loan. You are two years due. Do well to follow the right procedure.”

It could be Martins, it could be James—hell, it could be someone in this very room. The fear tightened its grip on me. But I couldn’t let it show. Not now. Not in front of Richard. He needed to see me strong, see me focused. He had enough doubt of his own without me adding more. I turned to Martins. “Do you know anything about this? Someone had been feeding them information, and I needed to figure out who before they made their move. I should’ve gone straight back to the hotel, but instead, I found myself walking toward the bar. The agent’s words still lingered in my head, and I needed something strong to drown them out. The bartender recognized me from earlier and raised an eyebrow. "Another one, sir?" "Make it a double," I said, loosening the collar of my shirt. He didn’t argue, just poured the amber liquid into a glass and slid it toward me. I picked it up and knocked it back in one go, the burn doing little to clear the tension building in my chest.

Edward’s pov The older agent flipped through page after page, his brow creasing less with every turn. The younger one typed furiously on his laptop, pulling up crosschecks, shaking his head slightly. Finally, the older one leaned back in his chair, closed the binder, and looked at me. “Mr. Bassett, nothing here directly implicates you.”

The sound echoed like a gunshot. “That is enough!” she barked. She stood up, She looked at me, and for a fleeting second, I saw a flicker of the girl who used to sneak into my room at night to share stolen chocolates. But then the shutter came down. The General returned. “You speak of history, Amelia. Let’s talk about history. Let’s talk about the time you lost the ledgers in the Zurich op. Or the time you were spotted with a double agent in Prague and claimed you were interrogating him without authorization.”

I watched it happen. Then I watched the specific moment when the version of the plan Edgar had sold him met the version on the page and the distance between them became undeniable."This isn't." He started."No." I said. "It isn't."He looked at me."The counter-agent exists." I said. "We have it. It's being produced now." I held his gaze.

He nodded at David, who nodded back. Dorma and Varg walked past Claire, giving her an odd look she found baffling but shrugged off. As soon as they left the room, Claire and Maurice exploded. “We got it,” said Claire. “We got the manual,” said Maurice. He flashed us a glimpse of what was under his jacket. It was a red, leather-bound book. “Yeah,” Claire reconfirmed. “We got the manual.” “No problems,” said Maurice. “In and out. Mission accomplished.” “You doubted us,” said Claire, pointing a triumphant finger at me. “You were wrong! Secret agents, bitch.”

The double screamed. “What’s happening?” Sophia held her tighter. “You’re choosing.” The double’s empty eyes began filling with color. She looked at her reflection in Sophia’s eyes. Then whispered: “I don’t want to be you.” Sophia smiled. “Good.” “I want to be me.” A golden explosion filled the universe. A New Person When the light disappeared the double was gone. In her place stood a young woman. Different. Not Sophia. Not a copy. Not an alternate future. Someone entirely new.
