Her voice trembled softly when she finally spoke. “Dad… everyone… I’m back.” Bernard’s eyes shone with tears he refused to let fall. “My daughter,” he said, voice filled with promises, “you have suffered so much all these years. From now on, I will make up for everything. No matter what happens, I will always have your back!”

Not from the truth. She nodded slowly. “Yes, Camila. That was your dad.” The little girl blinked, her expression unreadable for a long moment. “I liked him.” Natalia's throat tightened. “I know.” Camila looked down at the picture in her hand—a family drawing. A woman. A child. A man added in pencil, just recently sketched in. “Can he come back again?” Natalia didn’t have an answer. She pulled her daughter into a tight embrace, holding her like she was the only stable thing left in a world suddenly tilting.

He said quietly. I rubbed my forehead with my fingers. “I just couldn’t help it. Just help me. I would do anything to get my daughter, even to bribe a judge. No one would say no to my money.” I said firmly. I needed to show Sophie I could get Mia back if I wanted. She definitely forgot who she was dealing with. “Hmm. Okay. I’ll work on that. You need to be back in New York.” He said. “Don’t go back to their house again. I mean it this time.”

But her face mirrored Dad’s expression: as if I was demanding for a child I never have…as I I was crazy, that was how they are looking at me. My body trembled as I now realize what my parents are demanding from me. Yes, I knew that I must pay a price for returning leaving them and then return back….but not this…not with my own daughter. I made the decision to come back home because of her, not to lose her. “No,” I breathed, shaking my head. My lips trembled as I struggled to form words. “Dad… please… tell me this is some kind of horrible joke. Bella… she’s my daughter. She's also your own granddaughter!”

Never have I been happier to listen that annoying, lazy drawl up in my head, dishing out judgment as it deemed fit. "I thought you'd left me for my doom. I'm glad you stayed." I confessed without a second hesitation. "Actually, I was gonna. There was nowhere else that was deserving of my presence and I thought to come back home, where I belong. This is where I'm enthroned and I love it here!" She stated in a tone that bred boredom. "Really?" "No." She replied. "I'm back because more than ever, you need all the help you can get and now we have full knowledge of who we were meant to be, we can put Mana Sylveon's power to good use."

“The sixth finger is finally gone. It was so ugly!” I laughed as I touched her scar gently. She did not know that the extra finger had saved her life once! My daughter always asked when we could go back home. She had never been to the place where she was born. I did not dare to return. Even though her biological father was dead, his family was still trying to contact me. They had heard that my daughter was smart, so they wanted her back to inherit the family fortune. I knew they were up to no good, so I turned them down without a second thought. I was not going to take her back there until she was old enough to protect herself.

I continued, "I told you not to pick on others, but I never told you not to stand up for yourself. If someone attacks you, you should do whatever it takes to defend yourself. I have more than enough money to pay their medical bills!" Biting his lip, Andy teared up. "I'm sorry, Dad. She told me she's your biological daughter. She also said that you'd abandon me if I hit her back."

Ignoring the nurse's protests, I yanked the IV from my arm and staggered toward the door. No matter what it took, I would get my daughter back!

I straightened slowly, wiping my tears, my spine locking into place as something colder and far more dangerous took root inside me. If he wanted to play this game… I would finish it. Especially now that my daughter was back.

She asked in a somewhat petulant manner. I sighed. “To be honest, I don’t even know if I’m going back… I actually don’t intend to go back, sweetie,” I replied, being frank. Obviously, I wasn't planning on going back to Bruce after everything he did to me, and I was amazed that my daughter was asking me that question.
