Arc I – The Possession Begins Chapter 2: The Lady in the Mirror For a full five seconds, Mira did not move. The reflection did. It smiled—her smile, but sharper. Her hands went cold. “I—uh,” Mira stammered, “I’m… me?” Brilliant. Pulitzer-winning dialogue. The reflection tilted its head. “You are not Seraphina Edevane.” Mira’s heart pounded. She backed away, but the reflection followed in perfect synch, except for one crucial detail: the eyes. They weren’t her normal wide-eyed panic; they were calm, ancient, and unmistakably aware.

And standing over my reflection, emerging from the dark fog, was the phantom sovereign herself. Lolita appeared in the mirrors. She wore that liquid onyx silk gown, her dark hair falling in damp waves over her bruised collarbone. The projection looked impossibly real. Her dark eyes were entirely devoid of mercy. Her lips curved into that wicked, triumphant smirk that had dismantled me in the dirt.

Lesel just sighed and didn't want to answer, but the designer kept pressing her because the princess's elegant points disappeared in a moment due to her troubled feelings. "Is it true?" Lesel asked incredulously. "Of course, Princess. Look. What aura do you see in this mirror," the designer brought the mirror closer to the princess's side. When Lesel saw her reflection in the mirror, she realized that her aura of elegance had indeed disappeared. "Who is that haggard woman?" she murmured incredulously. "That is your reflection if you are sad when the wedding day is approaching, Your Majesty," the designer said with a smile.

FOUR MONTHS LATER THE LUNA CEREMONY CARLA I looked at the reflection in the giant mirror in front of me. It is literally giant since we have to glue it to the wardrobe door, so it also reflects our bedroom, where I found my mate standing far behind and observing me. "Are you satisfied with the sight in front of you, Mate?" I chuckled at the seriousness he put on his face. He looked like I was the only thing in the room worth his attention. Or it was the truth since no one except us was here.

Scene 2: The Fire Mirror Hours later, they reached a vast cavern cut deep into the mountain’s side. The air shimmered with heat. In the center, a lake of magma bubbled angrily, and above it hovered a strange relic—a polished obsidian mirror framed in gold. Iris approached it cautiously, drawn by the power radiating from it. Her reflection shimmered in the surface, then twisted. She gasped. She saw herself—not as she was, but as she had once been. Nadia. Whole. Untouched by betrayal.

As she turned to leave, I called out to her one last time. "Ilena." She paused, glancing over her shoulder. "Thank you," I said, my voice softer now. "For everything." Her lips curved into a faint smile. "Always, my lady." When the door clicked shut behind her, I sank back into my chair, staring at my reflection once more. The woman in the mirror looked every inch the Luna—strong, beautiful, untouchable. But behind the mask, I was just Eloisa. A woman who had spent her entire life reaching for something just out of her grasp.

“What is it?” I stepped forward, hesitant but determined. “I know it might sound ridiculous, but… I saw someone. A man. In my mirror this morning. Grey hair, stormy eyes, but not old. He wasn’t just a reflection either—he was there. Staring at me. And then he just disappeared.” Aurora’s expression didn’t change much, but I saw it—just a flicker, a shift in her eyes. She wasn’t surprised. “Mirrors,” she said slowly, “aren’t always what they seem. Especially not to someone… awakening.”

Liya called out, and she heard someone snicker. “Took you long enough to figure it out.” He called out, and Liya felt a shiver run through her spine. Liya didn’t know what she was supposed to do at that point as Damian slowly started to walk towards her. There was something in his hands. Something that she recognized all too well. It was a mirror. Damian finally stopped in front of her, and raised it up to her face. The wig was off her head, and the makeup was washed off her face. Damn it. Done. She was done for.
