I said softly, meeting his eyes. “I have,” he admitted without shame. “I’ve wanted you for a long time, Aria. Since we were teenagers when I first saw your picture. This betrothal isn’t a burden for me, it’s an honour. And I believe we can be happy together, on our own terms.” I just nodded, having nothing else to say to him. The rest of the dinner dragged on like torture.
