So, sliding on the realistic face mask that made me look like a total stranger, I made my way into his house and settled on the couch.
Spider arrived within ten minutes, just like he had promised. He wasn’t surprised to see me in his house.
“So?” I probed.
He responded by sinking into the couch. “There is no record of her death. No unclaimed bodies within a month of the incident, and certainly no water body disappearances.”
He had covered all the bases, typical of Spider. It was why I treasured him. But since he was only eliminating possibilities, it meant he hadn’t confirmed anything yet.
