Anderson shook her head. ‎“Something’s up with Jason though.” ‎“What do you think it is?” ‎“I’m not sure. But I think it’s over a girl or something.” ‎Jennifer sighed. “I’m so worried. She felt her breath catch, her heart thudding in her chest. “All right,” she said finally, her voice shaking but strong. “I’ll marry you.” His lips twitched, just the barest hint of triumph in his eyes. “Good,” he said, his voice low and rough. “We’ll do this properly. You’ll have my name, my protection… and my world at your feet.” She lifted her chin. “But this isn’t love,” she said. “This is convenience. Bitterness.” He nodded once, his eyes darkening. “Yes.
