“Fine. But if they push us too far, I will start swinging.” Enzo smirked. “Then let’s make sure it doesn’t come to that.” Later that evening, Enzo got a call from an unknown number. He answered cautiously. “Who is this?” A familiar voice chuckled on the other end. “An old friend.” Enzo stiffened. “I don’t have any of those.” The voice sighed. “Come on, Blackwood. No need for hostility. I just wanted to congratulate you on your success.” Enzo’s grip on the phone tightened. “Cut the crap. What do you want?”

I shout and they both snap their heads toward me as I jump to my feet. "Katie!" Zack raises his hand. "Stay back!" I freeze in place as his attention goes back to the Watchman. "You must take another crystal," Zack says to him. And then I see it. The Watchman's cloak is ripped to shreds, completely covered in blood, a mist of steam billowing from several deep gashes on his back. The Watchman nods, glancing over at me, his eyes glowing that bizarre reddish hue as they shift back to Zack.

“You think you’re the only one?” “You wound me, Delia,” Gray chuckles. She slaps his arm playfully, letting him know it's time to get serious. He straightens up, as all signs of amusement snap from his face in a split second and holds still while she goes to work on the chain in his hands. She places both of her hands a few inches above the metal and whispers some incantation until a low blue glow can be seen from underneath her palms. When the glow fades she moves her warm copper brown hands and sighs.

The guard’s boots kicked the air. Rex’s eyes were glowing a dull, angry orange. He slammed the man into the stone floor, and the sound made my own teeth ache. But there were too many of them. For every guard we knocked down, two more stepped out of the shadows. Black was watching from the sidelines. He wasn't fighting. He was waiting. He looked at the moon, then he looked at Debbie. He was like a wolf watching a rabbit.
