​The sky above Haida Gwaii was no longer blue, nor was it the violent violet of the shield. It was Silver. ​Millions of Sterling drones hung in a perfect, terrifying stasis, suspended by residual gravity-anchors. They looked like a ceiling of needles, a metallic fog that blocked out the sun but allowed a strange, diffused grey light to filter down onto the Anchorage. Occasionally, one would twitch—a faint, mechanical spasm as it tried to resolve the "Loss" loop Kael had injected—but for now, the Swarm was a sleeping giant.

I shouted. The grate above Sadira’s bed snapped loose, and another Hollowed dropped straight toward her. I would not reach her in time. But then the Core on her chest flared. Not red as in the gorge. But blinding, pure blue. Sadira’s eyes opened. There were no pupils—only swirling blue light. The falling Hollowed froze midair, as if caught by an invisible hand. Metal screamed as its body began to compress, folding in on itself as though trapped in a massive press.

“I promise, Lydia, once we return to my pack, I’ll help uncover everything. Just give me time.” Lydia stared at him, unsure if she could trust him again. “Lydia? Are you there?” a voice called from outside. Knox nodded at her. “I’ll be waiting,” he said, picked up his bag, and opened the door. Thalia stood there. Knox smiled at her. Lydia swore she saw pain—longing—on his face before he quickly hid it and walked away. Thalia stepped in. “Hi,” she said, hugging Lydia. Her scent was heavily marked by Harold. Lydia’s gaze dropped to her neck—two pale crescent lines. A mate mark.

“Then we find them. We protect our balance.” A new path formed, leading to the blue star, and the nexus hummed, its balance alive but trembling. The hollowness was a scar, her glow her strength—her family, her will, her hope. Sylvara’s growth had failed, but the blue star’s weaver waited, their calm a mystery that could drown or uplift.

“I can.” I felt my body hum as Vexi took control. My vision shifted, allowing me to see the magic residue in the air. Opal’s energy was weak, a dull gray-green mist. But another presence had left behind something far stronger. A distinct hue—blue and gold—shimmered against the cold air. I frowned. “What is that? The blue and golden aura?” Vexi hesitated. “It belongs to an Alpha.” My breath caught. “That’s not possible. The only Alpha here is Mac.”

It doesn’t look like they are here as a threat. “I am Alpha Azraiel Mickelson of the Blue Orchid Pack.
