Azami’s expression was unamused, but she gave a short, high-pitched whistle, and the remaining sounds of battle stopped.
Slowly, I lowered my dagger from underneath her chin, stepping back cautiously.
“There,” Azami said, once I was out of dagger-range. “Are you satisfied?”
I cautiously turned away from her to examine the situation. True to her word, the werecats had stopped attacking and were instead licking their wounds or prowling back and forth, eyeing me.
Killian still stood in front of the rest of the warriors, his gaze wary. He met my eye and gave me a small nod to reassure me that things were under control.
