Body Swap Novels & Stories

"No wonder Audrey isn't interested in someone like you. Just look at Mr. Hatcher. He's rich and powerful. What do you have? All you do is drag Audrey down. I can't believe she even invited you to her wedding. I have no idea what she was thinking!" My gaze slowly shifted to the body that had been mine. I could already tell it was doing much better. That was when I knew for sure. Audrey's first love and I had switched souls. I hated to admit it, but her system had actually worked. Watching Audrey take his hand with so much affection still sent a dull ache through my chest. I had treated her so well, and it still wasn't enough. She chose to team up with her first love anyway, even making me fal

" I hit the gas and drove off. I returned the gift, went back to my apartment, and packed my things. Now all I had to do was wait for the appointment—then I'd be moving in with my new groom. After dinner, one of my studio colleagues called. I braced myself, thinking she was going to tell me we'd lost money on canceled wedding flowers. I was about to say I'd cover it—but she was crying. "Ms. Powell, what do we do? The national floral exhibition project—Derek stole it. They bid half our price. "But the flowers are already on the way. If we lose the deal, we eat the cost ourselves. That's easily over a million…"

Took my backpack "to help." I forced my voice steady. "Where's my medication?" Lily covered her mouth, soft gasp—perfect volume for the audience. "Juliet, don't be like that. I saw you only had two pills left. It looked... kind of sad. So I swapped them for the vitamins I take. Full sheet. Nine tablets. Imported." Like she'd upgraded me. Rage shook through me. The stabbing in my chest spread down my arms. The blister pack slipped from my hand.

He held my hand as we walked, speaking with lightness about the future. "What should we name the baby?" he asked, gently placing a hand over my belly. "You can decide," I said. "Anything is fine." He smiled, and I leaned forward to kiss his cheek. The riverbank was crowded and lively, full of warmth. Then, without warning, everything shifted. "Leah! Nick! I'll send you both to hell!" The voice was ragged, unrecognizable at first. A figure lunged out of the crowd, unkempt and clutching a knife.

Final. The whole swap was doing something to my nervous system that I did not have adequate language for. That was the explanation. That was the only explanation I was accepting. Three people in a penthouse, two souls in the wrong bodies, weeks of proximity and high stakes and the permanent sense of standing on a floor that might give way at any moment — of course my instincts were misfiring. Of course my wolf was confused. She was operating in conditions that pack biology had not prepared any of us for, in a situation where the man I was married to looked like someone else and the man I was supposed to find nothing more than inconvenient looked like my husband and every sensory cue she had

He is looking at me like I’m a simpleton he needs to educate. A memory flashes from the back of my mind, the kind you dredge up on quiz night. The 200-year bride swap. An archaic peace-keeping tradition where a royal from each of the five supernatural kingdoms is married off to another species for at least ten years, guaranteeing the treaties hold for the next 190. Rinse and repeat, every two centuries. And here I am, caught straight in the middle of it, with the werewolves. Shit. Why did I have to get the year that we’re swapping with the animals?

But the second we got in the car, Dorothy grabbed her head. "My blood sugar's dropping. Take me to the hospital." I was gonna call a cab and leave, but they dragged me along anyway. The doctor just told Dorothy to go home and rest, but she frowned, all delicate about it. "Milo, what if I need a transfusion later? I heard rare blood types are hard to find." The second she said that, Milo grabbed my wrist. "You've got the same blood type. Give some so we can store it for her." I just stared at him, stunned, and tried to pull away.

Mother nodded firmly, determined to find me a husband better than all three of those men combined. After Mother left, I strolled to the kitchen in high spirits to check on the pregnant sow in the pen. When the physician diagnosed Jennifer with triplets, I had already heard the news. At the time, I happened to overhear the servants mention that one of the pigs was also pregnant. A plan formed instantly. I decided to have the system swap the sow's litter with Jennifer's babies. Jennifer was now strutting around and flaunting her belly in front of me every day, completely unaware she was carrying piglets.

"Not yet. But I'm getting close." Shirley and I were raised in the same orphanage since we were kids. I knew she was tied to some kind of trade system. I could hear her talking to it. The cruel part? I was the only one she could use for these swaps. The only small mercy was that the system capped her at three. The first one happened when we were 13. Shirley was born with a heart defect, so she swapped hers for mine. She left the hospital completely cured. Me? I collapsed from acute heart failure and spent a week in intensive care. Even now, I haven't fully bounced back.

“ You said that's when souls swap bodies, whereby one person's soul wakes up in another body.’ “ That's it! That's exactly it!” Sera clapped her hands and pointed. “ Is there a way for it to be reversed if something like that happened?” “ Yeah.. you do say it's reversal, you said it depends on fate, as long as one of them is not dead. ‘Does that mean the owner…’ Her hands trembled, pulse racing, gaze darting at the maid. “ What do you mean?” “ If one of them is dead, then the other will be stuck in the body.”
