We both hop inside his car in the front seat, and he sets it in motion afterward. As he drives down the road, I keep praying silently that by the time I get home, I shouldn't meet Asher. Do you want to know the weird thing about my brother? He doesn't have a friend, not even a single one. And as far as I remember, he has never introduced any girl to me as his girlfriend, even as he has many women throwing themselves at him. He's weird.

School got me busy and I had very little time for writing or even social media. But now I’m back. I already completed Crave if anyone is also waiting for that, and some of you might have not seen the note there, but I’ll complete my stepbrother this June. I’m already rereading the chapters to get familiar with the plot again and it’s been written. Once I have enough chapters that won’t leave you hanging in between (which is very soon. (Dante's POV) The atmosphere in the Blackwood mansion was suffocating. Don Salvatore Blackwood sat in his high-backed chair, his face a mask of cold fury. At fifty-eight, he'd seen it all, but he never imagined his own sons would bring such shame upon the family. Across the long table, Dante’s older brother, Vincent, scowled at a stack of newspapers. Every front page was a variation of the same story. "Chicago Mob Family Implicated in Bullying Scandal."

I couldn't say I'm in love with your brother and living twenty feet away from him is going to destroy me. "I'm just tired," I said. "Long day yesterday." Sloane's expression softened. She sat down next to me and wrapped an arm around my shoulders. "It's going to be okay. You're going to stay here, get back on your feet, and then you're going to find a cute guy and forget all about this." I laughed weakly. "A cute guy." "Someone who isn't my emotionally stunted brother," she added. "Seriously. Don't let him get in your head. He's an asshole to everyone."

Katrina turned at the feel of his closeness, and she almost collided with him. The air between them tightened, charged, and her pulse suddenly became loud in her ears. She barely had time to inhale before he leaned in and kissed her, swift and silencing every thought in her head. When he pulled back, Katrina stared at him, a bit stunned, her lips parted slightly. “Do brothers kiss their sisters like that?” Jace asked quietly, his gaze still lingering on her lips. Katrina swallowed hard, trying not to falter. “Well, I heard brothers tend to be overly protective of their sisters,” she said lightly, forcing the words out.

I acknowledged coldly, stuffing my hands into my pockets. A smug smirk appeared on his face before his eyes shifted toward Alice’s room behind me. Then back to me. “What brings you here, brother?” he asked lazily. “I don’t remember inviting you to visit my wife.” Wife. This motherfucker always emphasized that word like it meant something. “What makes you think I came here to visit your wife?” I asked flatly. His smirk widened. Mine did too. “So it’s just a coincidence that I found you standing outside her ward?”

But today, something had drawn him in, a need to connect with the person he had lost so tragically. As he rummaged through his brother's belongings, his fingers brushed against a leather-bound book hidden beneath a stack of papers. He hesitated for a moment before pulling it out, recognizing it as his brother’s diary. The worn cover and frayed edges showed signs of frequent use, a testament to the secrets and thoughts it held within.
