Book Holes Reading Level Novels & Stories

It was a grown-up book, but Dad had been reading it to him. "Do you want me to read?" Ethan asked. River didn't say yes. But he didn't say no. Ethan opened the book to the bookmark. He turned on his small reading light. "In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit," Ethan read. He wasn't very fast, but he knew the words. "Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort."

“God help you.” “I think the words in this one are too big.” She sat cross legged on the floor, a book on her lap. “Maybe I should just talk . . . or something. And you can learn words that way, okay?” She’d been reading to it for weeks. Had gone to the library and scrounged around, finally finding those big, slender books that had page after page filled with large pictures and easy words. “This one?” the librarian had said. “This is much too young for you. You really should be reading at a much higher level by now, don’t you think?”

he says smiling back at me, I asked him if he needed any help. "No, I'm just here to read, if you're not busy you're welcome to join me," he says inviting me to sit next to him in the reading area, there wasn't much of a crowd giving me a chance to sit down with him. "Let's go sit then," he says picking a story, it wasn't the same one he was reading as before, this was more like babies' stories I get my snacks from my bag and came back to sit down with him. At first, my adult self was wondering why he chose a Childers book but little me didn't care. I let him read the story with me right next to him. I was so entranced with the story until I felt something warm go down my princess area, I kn

Elion pulled a book from the shelf. "Here," Elion said. "Read this." Cale looked at the cover. The Hobbit. "Fantasy," Cale said. "Illogical." "It's a journey," Elion said. "Read the first page." Cale opened the book. He read. "In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit," Cale read aloud, his voice low. "Keep going." "Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell..."

I spent so long not being able to read that I struggle with it. Alexis has been helping me the best she can. She's been checking out Elementary level books for me in the pack library, then she sits down with me at night and helps me read them. And I'm getting better. I don't think I'm reading at a low elementary level anymore, but my reading level is definitely way lower than it should be. I just can't wait for when I can read something more complex than Junie B. Jones. I don't know how long I am doing my homework before I hear a knock on the door. I get up from my desk in my room and open the door.

Frank asked, glancing in his direction, and Ivaan turned to face him. “No,” He said and opened the book he was holding in his hand. “You’re reading ‘The Alchemist’? The reading level is grade seven, I think?” Frank said, and he hoped Ivaan would interact more with him. “It’s full of life lessons. Such books give me hope everything will turn out well in the end,” Ivaan said and Frank actually didn’t expect such an answer from a nine-year-old. “I am amazed. Now I know why your mom calls you a wonder boy!” He smiled, but it didn’t have any effect on Ivaan and now Frank was losing patience as they were close to his school.

Jane still remembered the scathing tone of voice in which she had remarked, after their last book reports, "I have to say that it is very disturbing to find a high school students still choosing books on an elementary reading level." The words had stung. Jane didn't read at an elementary level. She just happened to like short stories. But Ms. Reeds had implied that she was some kind of a slow learner. Jane and Emily walked over to the fiction shelves. Emily started with the A's, taking down every skinny book and turning to the end to check the number on the last page. "Ninety-five. Too short. One hundred fifteen. Too long. One hundred five. Getting warmer. One hundred nine. Colder. Okay, her

the man explained. His tone of voice... I didn't know why, but it put me on edge. "Well... It's an excellent book, but it can be a bit challenging in some parts for the kids to pronounce," I explained. "Morphologically speaking, it's around a Level A2 in English." He chuckled modestly, causing the hairs on my arms to stand on end in response. I couldn't deny that I quite liked his laugh.
