I didn’t know what I was looking for, but I knew I’d find something. I passed by the parenting section, glancing at the titles. The Complete Guide to Baby Care. What to Expect When You’re Expecting. I smiled a little. It felt funny, looking at books about babies. Sometimes I felt like I was still just figuring out how to be me, let alone a mom. But there was something comforting about being surrounded by all that knowledge. Like, maybe I didn’t have to know everything right now. Maybe I just needed to take it one step at a time.

I think the only place I haven’t seen a book is in the bathroom. “No,” I say, flipping the book open and paging through it. “I don’t think he would.” I skim through the book on preparing for a baby, on all the things I need to have, and do, and think about. It doesn’t take long before I’m so overwhelmed that I don’t think I take in anything after the first few pages. If I do, I certainly don’t remember it. The knowledge just floats in through one ear and goes straight out the other.

And with that, we dispersed. Feeling excited, I ran off in the direction of the bedroom. This would be a good opportunity to catch up on reading that pregnancy book I started some time ago. This was my first baby, and I was eager for answers. Everything seemed to be progressing quickly. Even the doctors I’d seen made notes of it. I needed to know if any of it was normal at all.

Everyone always tried to limit her by sending bodyguards to her. The only thing she needed to do was ignore them—just like she always tried to do. Her feet stepped down the aisle of bookshelves one by one. The smell of new pages made her feel at ease—calm and pleasant that she intended to linger there. Usually, she prefers to buy fiction books with the theme of love stories because she likes to spend time reading romance books. However, she passed through the hall this time without intending to find a book there. Her hand reached out and took a book with a pink cover entitled; Pregnancy and How to Deal with It through the first three months.

I’m a little embarrassed that she said I would be more aroused, because I was a little while ago when I woke up. “Alpha is correct though. Shifting can hurt or kill the pup.” She looks at me and hands me a book thoughtfully, “Given your background with your education, I thought you might want to know what you can expect during a pregnancy. This is a book that explains everything with pregnancies and some of the do’s and don’ts.” “Thank you. I guess I need to start reading when I get home.” “Yes. That would be a good idea. Now let’s get you hooked up to this ultrasound machine and see if your pup wants to say hi!” she says excitedly.

Pure deliciousness. "Ok, this one first." She slides a book towards me. On the front is shows a wolf fetus inside the womb, it reads 'SHE-WOLF PREGNANCY WEEK BY WEEK' in bold letters. If that wasn't a kick to the gut, I don't know what is. Am I really doing this?
