I whispered, my heart shattering. Marcus marched forward and gripped my chin tightly, his eyes burning bright golden, "How fucking dare you disrespect me?! I'm the alpha of this pack. In the spirit of compliance and refusing to be difficult, I stood aside and simply stood in a corner, taking a look at the bookshelf and the collection of books that Alpha Damon had. I was pleased to see that he had many titles about how to rule the pack. I had read so many of those books before, and seeing them on his bookshelf was refreshing in an entirely different manner. It was nice to know that he wasn’t just any old alpha, and that he was actually reading to try and figure out how to rule the pack. “I’m impressed. But there is something about these Alphas. What if he is just pretending?” Exasperated, I tried to hide my annoyance with my wolf, even though I understood her, to an extent

"So we are supposed to accept it? Accept that the girl we all blamed for her parents death is suddenly the White Wolf, the one the legends say could save us or destroy us?" The room fell silent again. I felt every eye on me. My heart was pounding hard that I thought it would crack a rib.. My wolf did not flinch. I stepped forward past Damon into the space between the tables. I looked at Marcus at the elders and then at the whole pack. I said, "I never asked for this. I never asked for the bond. To be the Alphas mate or to be the White Wolf.. I am and I am done hiding it."

We had done it a number of times for people who were mated to rogues, and were exposed to danger. My father hissed. "Not with Larkxe. Doing that, would either strip him of his power, or worse, kill him." his voice was low and cold as he spoke, and together with his words, they gave me chills. "But why?" I asked, frowning. My mother sat on one of the chairs opposite from me, and sighed. "Because, Larkxe, is not just any wolf. He is going to be Alpha soon. You don't do those kind of spells on am Alpha." was her answer, which confused me the more.

I tell him, before I start running to hide, pulling Issac along with me. Issac and I find a spot behind a bush and sit down, waiting. “So, did you learn anything from this book?” I ask and he nods. “Maybe.” He pulls the book out of his back pocket and starts going through the pages. The wolf senses and light from the moon making reading in the dark, while still hard not impossible. He stops at a page and shows it to me. “Apparently, if this book knows anything real, there’s like a whole pack ran by a golden wolf. Like even now, the golden wolf is like their Alpha.” He explains and I take the book to read over it.

I settled into a quiet corner, hoping to lose myself in the story. The book started like any other werewolf novel, talking about full moons and shifting. But then, I turned the page and my breath caught. There was a picture. Not the usual handsome man turning into a wolf, this was different. This wolf was massive with glowing red eyes and thick, dark fur. The caption underneath read, “Cursed Alphas.” It looked… powerful. Intimidating.

Those were their trophies. “Hunters,” I whispered to myself. “Rasia….” My father’s voice cracked through the noise. He was the Alpha of our small pack. He was strong and looked unbreakable. U turned towards him…running. But I never reached him. A blast goes off. The shockwave threw me into the dirt as pain exploded through my shoulder. I immediately tasted blood. When I looked up, the elder’s hall was burning. Wolves I trained with, fighters, are dropping like flies as silver bullets pierce through them.

I answered as I spoke into the microphone placed in front of me. A woman raised her hand, who I recognized as Alpha Mira of the Solitary Pack. She had my respect because she was the only female Alpha I had come across and regulating a pack was a hard task. “Why don't we all join forces then? After all, the war is bound to affect everyone; Every supernatural being and even humans,” she spoke in a genteel tone. She had a point, but a werewolf’s pride was intoxicating. This was something she wouldn't understand because women were selfless and thought of what would be best for everyone. But that was not the case here amid power-hungry men, who only thought selfishly.

And she wasn’t alone. The barking started almost immediately. The Golden Retriever tugged on his leash, begging to be let go, his nose pointed right at Jack. So he wasn’t the only one around here with an exceptional sense of smell. It was good that the dog wanted to protect her, but no dog on earth could protect her from a giant wolf that stood seven feet off the ground at the shoulders. Jack was huge, one of the biggest wolves in the pack, thanks to his stature as being the next in line to be the Alpha. Pushing pass them I march to the cell where Damon was being held and the door was wide open with no sign of him. Ripper was rising inside me, I had had enough and let him come forward, the guards would regret the day they tried to outsmart me. The shredding of clothes filled the dingy dungeon and I turned into my large white wolf, which seemed larger than before and started circling the men who were supposed to be my guards. Alexander followed me, shifting quickly, his wolf also appeared bigger and the only difference between us were our coloured eyes. We continued to circle the guards together, they had no idea which one of us was the Alpha.
