I asked. “Give me the truth." And then Sofia held out her little finger. I wanted to cry and laugh at the same time. I taught her about the little finger promise when she was 4 years old and I was 8. We promised never to lie to each other. A little finger promise could never be broken. She remembered this. I didn't deserve that gesture, I broke my promise. But not anymore. Sofia deserved the truth that I had denied her for so many years, even though in the end I would lose her for good.

Chandra pulled Amara away. "Stop." "Don't try to rule me, Chandra!" "Then don't do anything against my rules! Or I will shut you up." The last line she just stated served as a tranquilizer to me- it made me freeze- stopping me to eat Amara. Into the thin air, I shouted, and I growled. The nearby wolves responded, including Amara. But Chandra didn't. One thing is for sure, she isn't part of our race, and this place is not werewolves' realm. Just the parallel of my world.

Ava’s POV There were only a few rules I lived by in college. Rule number one? Never fall for a jock. It wasn’t just a personal preference. It was survival; I had to avoid them in order to do well. I had seen too many smart girls throw away their GPA for a 6'0 something guy with biceps, a quarterback playboy and a bad attendance record. Not me, no way, I'll never do that, that's how I survived my first year in Westbridge University, and I'm not going to break that rule in my second year.

"And the change... is irreversible." It walked closer to James. He looked at him with understanding. "This is the result of breaking the rules," It said calmly. "His body is adjusting to this aquarium." He remembered Rule #1, "Do not touch the glass of the fish tank," which James was the first to violate, and Rule #11, "Do not touch the water in the fish tanks," which both involved touching the aquarium's water. "James... you have to be strong!" Ploy shrieked. She tried to grab James's hand, but his skin was ice-cold and hard, like stone.

“Hey… look at me.” But I couldn’t. Because the truth was loud now. Clear. Unavoidable. I broke a rule. I broke myself. I gave my first time to the man I was never supposed to want. And I didn’t know how to take any of it back

Georgia’s POV The banging on the door was so loud it shook the walls. I froze mid-step, my coffee cup slipping from my hand and breaking on the marble floor. My heart thudded so hard I could hear it in my ears. “Open up! Police!” The words cut through the air like a blade. I swallowed hard, muttering to myself, No… this can’t be happening. Not now. When the door burst open, men in dark uniforms stormed in, their faces stone cold. They surrounded me before I could even breathe.

Myles Voss opening up about his feelings in a romantic way was really nothing short of horrifying, and to think that I was at the center of it all…. “But… but the contract,” I argued. “We had a plan. We had an arrangement. The rule, the number one rule, was not to get attached. You're breaking your own rule!” “Damn the rules!” Myles growled. “I made them, I can break them. That's what rules are for. They're meant to be broken.” “And you're not gonna check with me on that one?” I asked with raised brows. “I signed the contract, too, remember? What if that's not what I want?”

“Words. Bambina (Baby). Words!” “R-Rule three” I stutter nervously. “Which is?” “To always be kind and respectful” “And what other rule did you break?” Pausing, I try to rack my brain for the second rule I supposedly broke. What other rule had I broken? I mean there were only four rules. Rule one was don’t escape. Rule two was don’t leave the compound. Rule three was to be respectful and kind. And Rule four was the fucking curfew, so what other rule did I break. Did I miss one when he went over the rules? was there a fifth one I didn't know about?

That look that makes me wonder what would happen if either of us ever dared to break the one rule we agreed on. No touching. But rules are only rules… until they’re broken. And something tells me, it’s only a matter of time.

Austen's POV The emptiness left by the broken bond made it hard to breathe. I scrambled up from the floor with only one thought in my head: find her. Find her, no matter the cost. "Get the flyer ready!" I roared into my communicator. "Contact all border patrols! Lock down every exit!" "Austen, you need to calm down..." Seraphina tried to grab my arm. "Calm down?" I shook her hand off, my voice a low growl. "My mate is gone! She wasn't throwing a tantrum. She was escaping."
