My eyes closed involuntarily and I found myself tilting my head to the side, relishing the sensation. His hands moved with a deliberate, slow rhythm, kneading the tension out of my muscles. Each stroke seemed to draw out the heat within me, making my skin tingle. His fingers traced the curve of my neck, sending shivers down my spine. A small moan escaped my lips and I blushed, quickly brushing it off, praying he never heard. He whispered in my ear, his breath warm against my skin, "Are you hungry, wife?" "Y-yes," I stuttered, clearing my throat, feeling the shivers down my spine. "Are you?"

I beseeched for one last time, my voice breaking with unrestrained fear and loathing. The oppressive darkness wrapped around me felt suffocating, thickening with every malevolent word that spilled from the man's lips. Desperation gnawed at the edges of my sanity, clawing with relentless fervour. My curse screamed within me, a chaotic tempest echoing the man's vile incantations with a sinister rhythm of its own. The small space between us was filled with an unimaginable tension, and the darkness itself seemed to shudder with the anticipation of impending doom.

Sienna’s voice broke the stillness, light and teasing, though her eyes carried a deeper concern as she stepped into the room. Enzo glanced up, his lips twitching into a faint smile. “You shouldn’t be up. It’s late.” She crossed her arms, leaning against the doorway. “Sleep doesn’t come easily these days. When my eyes snapped open, the stone walls and the smell of sulfur were gone. I was standing in a graveyard of stars. It was a realm of infinite, suffocating black, where the ground felt like solidified smoke beneath my boots.

My hands fumble under me for something to anchor on. My lungs burn. My vision pushes slits of black into the edges. My limbs go slack. Breath stutters. The world narrows to a point and then it is gone. The creak of my shoulder against the step, the last sound before everything cuts off and it's suddenly dark.

The roar that erupted from the depths of the inverted spire was not a sound; it was a physical blow that shattered the remaining glass slates of the upper ledge into a blinding spray of black dust. It hit us with the weight of a falling mountain, driving the oxygen straight out of my lungs and pinning my body against the bronze archway. The pressure smashed my teeth together so hard a coppery burst of fresh blood filled my mouth. Beneath us, the three-thousand-foot abyss didn't just tremble—it deformed, the black granite walls buckling as the calcified titan flexed its ancient, subterranean limbs against its three-hundred-year-old iron chains.
