Come back. The ground beneath my feet shattered completely. And I fell. Into darkness.

Light exploded. Then the world went dark again. Not the peaceful dark of night. Not the protective dark of the cave. A crawling, suffocating darkness — thick as wet cloth against her skin — dragged Kiera down into its depths. Her ears rang. Her pulse hammered. Her mind spun out of control. She tried to reach for something — anything — but there was no ground beneath her, no air in her lungs, no sense of up or down. Just falling. Endless falling.

The pain is suddenly overwhelming. I fall into darkness.

Falling back into the darkness, letting myself sink into the ground beneath. * * *

Fear closed painfully around my chest. If I let go, I could die. But if I stayed— A creature suddenly appeared inches from his face, screeching violently. I made the decision before fear could stop me. I let go. The darkness swallowed me instantly. The fall felt endless. Cold wind tore past my body while panic consumed every thought in my head. I screamed, but the sound vanished into the void around me. Then something strange happened. The darkness began changing. Small lights appeared around me one by one, glowing softly like floating stars. Hundreds of them surrounded my falling body until the void no longer looked empty. It looked familiar, too familiar.

My thoughts slow, my mind growing heavy, as if the darkness is pulling me under, dragging me down into its depths. And then, just as suddenly as it began, the fall stops. I’m suspended in the void, weightless and adrift, my heart pounding in my chest. The darkness presses in around me, but it no longer feels threatening. Instead, it’s almost… comforting. Like a blanket, soft and warm, wrapping me in its embrace.

“What the hell is that?” The green light from the device flickered and then went out. Silence. For one heartbeat. And then the floor beneath us gave way. We were falling. --- Falling into darkness. Into chaos. And somewhere deep below, something alive and hungry waited for us.

Everything went black, and I collapsed into unconsciousness, Kyle's desperate cry echoing in my ears. "Eileen? Eileen are you okay? Are you there Eileen?" I heard Kyle call. I felt myself falling, falling through a void of darkness and despair. I tried to reach out, to grab onto something, anything, but it was too late. I was consumed by the darkness, swallowed whole by its depths. And as I fell, I knew that I was lost, lost in a world of shadows and fear.

Are the last words I hear leave his lips before I fall into the depths of darkness. (I am sorry, my light)

I didn't want to see Rowan so this was my only option to escape him. But that was to an end when he showed up to the club, made his way to me and lifted it up to his shoulders.
