Reapers
Mary replied with her nose in the air.
“My name is Callie, and I’m capable of finding the medical room on my own. Give me a sec.” I smiled as I saw the impatience grow on Callie’s face.
“I’m not allowed to return unless you are with me,” Mary replied more firmly.
“Go, Cal.” I sighed, “I’ll see you in a bit.” Callie nodded and followed the squeaky girl out of the cafeteria. I got a plate of food and found an empty table. Mary’s voice lingered in my head, giving me a headache. How did she get that under my skin? I grabbed my fork and drug it through the eggs carelessly, resting my head on my other arm.
