Her presence was enough, a reminder we weren’t alone in this fight. The camp loomed closer now. Shadows moved between the fires—men, horses, weapons. Voices carried on the wind, rough and loud, full of arrogance. I crouched low, pulling Aya down with me behind a cluster of rocks. We watched, our breaths shallow. The camp was alive, pulsing like a beast. Tents stretched out in neat rows, banners snapping above them. Kaden’s symbol glared in the firelight, a mark of his power. Guards patrolled the edges, their armor glinting. The air smelled of smoke, sweat, and that same sour rot.

I stepped off the bus while my shoes were crunching against the gravel path, and took it all in. This place feels alive. The air was cool, fresh, and smelled like earth and pine needles. Those birds were already chirping somewhere nearby. It was peaceful and surreal. Althea was standing in front of the group with a clipboard in hand. She wore her everyday bright smile and a ridiculous pink hoodie that read Camp Chaos Queen. "Alright, everyone!" she called out. "Welcome to Camp Halcyon!
