I don't know how to go about this kidnapping seeing as it's my first time keeping someone held captive. Im not going to be an evil captor. I'm not gonna tie her up and make her do things she doesn't want to. I'll leave her alone for a week and go from there. There should be a book for kidnapping for dummies. But then everyone would do that and do unthinkable things. I'm not a cruel person, I may or may not have tied her up in the beginning but seeing her weak and dangling frame I didn't want to do that again.

His turquoise orbs shone with cruel fun. He resembled a hauntingly beautiful yet mysterious artwork. I grasped the end of my blanket tightly, hoping that it would provide me some sort of warmth or a sense of security. But nothing could make me feel safe now. My insides seemed to be burned and engulfed by a wicked wildfire as I started panicking. I was in the same room with a ruthless man, who was rumored to having left his humanity at the pit of hell and he broke in. My first instinct was to scream, but I couldn't. Nothing came out of me, I felt myself being paralyzed, just like those nightmares.

“Help me.” As if answering a prayer, footsteps approached outside, making a crunching sound, like maybe boots plodding over gravel. Then metal scraped against metal. It was dark in my pit, but the air vent allowed just enough daylight in that I could see the inside of the door latch turning until it began to swing open. But the amount of brightness that flooded the cellar caused me to shrink back in my corner and hold up my hand to shade my eyes instead of scampering forward for help. It was probably just as well I didn’t surge forward, anyway, because I soon discovered my captor—not a savior—had arrived.

I wail. My fingers claw at my throat as I try to regulate my breathing. I hate darkness…so much. I sink to the floor and wrap my fingers around my knees, praying that help comes before I suffocate. Then the lights come on and my tear filled eyes meet the dark, icy ones of my captor. Him. Mason Lachlan.

“But I’m not done yet. Not by a long shot. I have a long, long fucking way to go. I still have so much to rob from you, so much to take you from… To the point you’re a dead woman walking. Numb. Empty. Hollow. Weak.” He got up on his feet, turning away from me. “You’ll have to live a life without Lorenzo. Beating yourself up about it for years and years to come. Knowing that you’re to blame. Knowing that his death is all your fucking fault.” He turned back, to stare at me dead in my eyes. “And you’re going to do it here, in this very room, until the day you take your last breath. Because you’ll forever be my captive.” The corners of his mouth curled upwards into a smirk, as he let out a low,

"Oh okay." The more realization settled within me, the more my tears threatened to spill and I didn't want to cry. I didn't want him to see me cry again, that would show him that his plan is working. I couldn't imagine a life of captivity waiting patiently for when your captor agrees to take your life and end your misery while meeting your family on the other side as the only flicker of happiness existing within you. It wouldn't take long before we reach his kingdom and his plan begins to unfold. I wonder whom he would kill first and how he was going to end their life and how he would choose to end me when he was done with them.

"I am the shadow that consumes. The darkness that engulfs the light. You cannot flee." Darkness closed in around them, swirling like a snake preparing to pounce. Emereah's heart pounded, fear bubbling in her breast. She looked down at Lunareth and her mind shrieked with horror. She could not lose her child to this beast. Not after all they had struggled for.
