I Gave her a small smile. “Time flies.”
Carol tilted her head, eyes sly. “Though… I suppose twenty still is a child when you're around grown men. Isn’t that right, Enzo?”
Enzo didn’t respond. His eyes stayed fixed on the page, though I noticed the grip on his coffee cup tightened.
“I mean, when I was twenty,” Carol continued, her voice falsely sweet, “I wasn’t busy trying to play house with older men. I was too busy living a little. I know, with people your age.”
