Grace gulped and uttered, "Miss Cassidy." "Miss Cassidy? The... the female CEO of CL?" Noah in shock stared at Apollo just as he heard Grace. He got the notice that people from CL already reached the airport and were soon to be here but now, it looked somewhat strange. The situation was about to mess up. Grace was frozen at the place. She knew something bad was gonna happen soon. She knew her boss too well. Apollo kissed her head gently and said while still hugging her tight. "I have missed you so much. I have missed you so damn much, why did you take so long to come back huh?"

Cassandra thrashed wildly, her skin beginning to blacken and peel away. But Apollo’s eyes held no pity. Only a chilling, almost ecstatic satisfaction. "Baby?" he sneered. "A vile, wicked mortal... and you thought you were worthy of carrying my blood?" "Your greed and jealousy are the perfect nourishment for these waters. Enjoy it, Cassandra. This is the price you pay." "No—! Apollo, you monster! May you be damned—!" With one last, desperate curse, Cassandra and the child within her dissolved into a plume of black smoke, vanishing from the world forever.

ALESSANDRO POV My fucking fiance was on top of my father. What a fucking day. I was already frustrated about one of my shipments being delayed for some reason. Today, I really didn't need to deal with drunk Cassandra or my twisted father. "Are you mad at me?" Cassandra finally spoke as we walked down the hallway into one of my private rooms with my grip on her wrist. "I didn't know he was your father. I'm sorry." She looked at me almost apologetically, but I knew she didn't regret a thing.

Cassandra shook her head slowly. “No.” Everyone turned toward her. Lucian blinked. “You’re not surprised?” Cassandra looked uneasy for the first time since they met her. “I helped design the framework for Helios.” She paused. “But I didn’t design the controller protocol.” Rowan frowned. “Then who did?” Cassandra hesitated. “That part was encrypted.” Lucian’s eyebrows rose. “You’re saying someone hid the most powerful feature in the system… from the system’s own architect?” Cassandra nodded. “Yes.”

Evelyn leaned into me, her head resting on my shoulder. I turned to Cassandra. “And I can’t think of a better doctor than Cassandra to help us.” Evelyn’s smile vanished. “What? After what she did, you trust her?” I ignored her, watching Cassandra’s face. I wanted to see it—the same agony that tore through me when I saw her with Luke.
