Not a small chuckle. And certainly not a polite, restrained reaction. They actually laughed out loud.
I frowned, crossing my arms. “What’s funny?”
Reese turned to Roman, still grinning as he pointed at me. “Should I tell her, or are you going to do the honors?”
Roman waved a hand dismissively. “Go ahead.”
Reese looked back at me, his amusement fading just slightly as he leaned forward, his tone shifting into something more grounded.
“To put it kindly,” he began, “Calder Hudson is made of stone. And Cassandra…” He paused briefly, as though searching for a less blunt way to say it, before giving up entirely. “Cassandra is a bitch.”
