For a comic book store Cosmo's Comics and Café is a well-lit open space. It's a thin narrow building, longer than it is wide, but the large shop window and glass front door make one entire end open to the early Sunday morning sunlight. It smells like coffee and paper, and who doesn't love those smells? When Aspen first suggested our new location, I was hesitant. My appreciation for Cosmo's has grown since then to a point I enjoy our Sunday brunch dates here.

Cosmo hissed “I will destroy this entire Base before you even lift a finger to stop me.” “You are blowing things out of proportion” Eagle soothed “he’s fine, see? He’s standing.” “You’re standing!” Cosmo slapped Eagle again “are you fine? Are you? Hmmm?” Every question came with a punishment. Each punishment oozed from Eagle’s face like tears. He remained emotionless, but I could tell the other Souls watching from above were revelling in his public humiliation and seeing the cracks in his mask. Cosmo was untouchable. No-one but Eagle could control him. He could unleash his Creations at any moment and no-one would be able to escape. He was worse than any raid or fire.

Cosmo fell silent. The smile on his face disappeared briefly, but it quickly returned, as if nothing had happened. “What about you? Want to tell me about your ex?” he asked with a teasing smile. Eloise smiled back. “My ex? You don’t know about him already? What details do you want to know?” Cosmo bit his lip and grinned slightly. “Details? Sounds like you still remember them clearly. Does that mean you miss him?” He cleared his throat. “Unlike you, I’ve never had an ex.”

My mother indicated her to walk closer to us both with her free hand.
