The cat looked up at her. Its amber eyes were wide. Cressida reached out. Slowly, her fingers hovered inches from its fur. The cat leaned into her hand. She stroked its head. Its ears. Its tiny chin. The cat began to purr...a rattling, desperate sound, like it hadn't purred in a long time.

Her instincts, honed by years of meticulous observation and scientific inquiry, whispered warnings that she couldn't ignore. When the others rushed into the test lab after hearing the sound, Sashi's eyes fell upon the lifeless form of the tabby cat. Her breath caught in her throat, a mixture of horror and disbelief flooding her senses. The cat's body, once vibrant and full of life, now lay still, its fur tinged with an unnatural shade of blue.

The Ghost hummed, having a wraithlike smile on his now visible lips. Heather eyed the cat who had gotten extra-large since she last laid her eyes on it. It looked at her with such hatred, that she could have sworn the obnoxiously arrogant animal intended for her to turn insanely dramatic into believing—she was the cat from Matt’s show. Through some twisted fuckery of events, the imagination of the script writer had culminated into an atrocious reality, which no one would trust, unless they’re barmy. “No, that can’t be true.”

They each sipped at their tea. Renfield appeared at Crawley’s feet and hissed. It wasn’t the first time the cat had seemed distrusting of the man, but Mrs. Belfry had noticed that this always happened when the full moon was close. She supposed the cat could sense old Crawley would soon turn into a dog.

Gregory leaves not a moment later, the door closes behind him and in return a shadow dashes back beneath the door, moving against the wall, till it reached behind me. It's shadowy form emerges from the shadows taking shape of a dark creature, smaller than those in the maze, it's fork like tale and monkey like figure moving toward me, crawling up my chair, hanging off it as it whispers in my ear of its discovery.
