His patched clothes were faded and full of dirt marks.
He dusted off his hands and gave me a brilliant smile. “They’re afraid of roses,” he said proudly.
“Really?” I was astonished, unable to believe him.
“You’ve already seen it with your naked eyes. These shrub roses are poison to them,” he told me.
“How come? So we can just get rid of witches by using roses?” I requested more details. I was dumbfounded at the fact that we could just scare away those creatures with mere roses.
“These kinds of roses are not like the ordinary. My mother picked them up from a burning bush near the forbidden river and told me to plant it around our cave,” he explained.
