We’ve all read them right? Those sappy romance novels, the ones where some handsome stranger rescues the damsel in distress. He’s wealthy like no other and adores the ground she walks on. There’s some life altering event, a struggle of some kind but it gets resolved and they live happily ever after.

I feel my whole body relax like it only does when she's close. "You don't need to be embarrassed about reading dirty books. I've been doing it for years." she says and my head pops up and I stare at her to determine how serious she is. But I don't sense even hint of joking. How interesting. "Really? Sure, the characters face hardships and tribulations, but what always stands out to me is the love and trust between the couples. It is the kind of love that feels unshakable, the kind I used to dream about. Now, I am not so sure if that kind of love exists for me anymore.

I thought about the way this stranger has made me feel and it made a small flicker of smile touched my lips. Maybe Lee was right. Maybe our sex was boring. Because when Lee made love, this stranger fucked instead. For me, there was a difference between the two of them.
