Exactly the type of people Elena wanted to observe. Sometimes opportunities appeared in unexpected places. --- The teacher entered. Instantly, the classroom became quiet. "Students." She adjusted her glasses. "The preliminary qualification exam begins today." Several students groaned. Others looked excited. Vanessa looked confident. Elena looked bored. The teacher distributed papers. "Begin." --- The room fell silent. Pens moved. Pages turned. Minutes passed. Most students struggled. The examination was notoriously difficult. Many questions belonged at university level. Vanessa answered confidently.

"Don't take this out on me. I swear on my integrity." Wesley stepped in front of her. "Maya, you've gone too far. How can you accuse Sasha like that? Just because the results aren't what you want, you take it out on her?" He flipped the report open. Didn't even look—just threw it at my face. I caught it, frowning. Bold black letters: biological relationship. A reporter snatched it from my hand and passed it around. Everyone around me looked at me with pure disdain. "I told you. Ninety-nine tests, and every one said the same thing. How would this be any different?"

While Elise went on bragging, the whole class became increasingly restless with excitement. "Oh my God, El! Every answer you gave was correct. You're definitely getting a perfect score in math!" "At this rate, never mind your average top-tier schools. Even the most elite ones would be begging you to come." Hearing all the flattery, Elise couldn't stop the smugness from spreading across her face. Then someone suddenly asked, "El, how did you see the answers? We're classmates. If there's really some miracle way, you can't keep it secret. I saw your post online—you ate poisonous mushrooms to see the exam answers, didn't you?"

“Ever since the test, I've said nothing about your results. Now that the final member of the class is present, I'll get on with it. But before then, I have to say a few things. “Like I mentioned earlier, I was initially from the Intermediate Academy of the Gifted. Now, what you did not know was that, the test I'd set for your class was no ordinary test. It is, in fact, one of the toughest exam in the Intermediate Academy of the Gifted. It is called, the Test of the Heart and Comradeship. Although you were divided into genders, the truth was, the test was supposed to test, firstly, your emotional quotient to see if you could actually bare to turn against your classmates whom you've barely kno

Alex pov I’ve always known the Elites have their separate world, but being thrust into it felt surreal. They had their separate classes. The classrooms were decorated beautifully, rivaling most of the students' parlours at their various homes. The air condition, that's seen in only the staff offices where mounted all round the Elites quarters, plus everybody have their own personal system and seats that are permanently for you.

I hope he gets the memo that just because he is my seatmate and some stupid ass badboy doesn't mean he gets to maneuver standard class protocol. Emily, the fair pretty brunette of our class sitting at the first desk in the first row, hands me her test sheet. Reece manages to sneak in her complete answer into the last box on her test sheet before shipping the paper out to me, winking. I laugh at this cunny girl before going round to collect the rest. Camilla's face looks like she just consumed a bowl of cow shit as she hands me her test paper. Tiffany and Greg also hand me theirs, and I discover the conflict of their silent battle.

“Can I take the elevator?” She burst out laughing, leaving me confused. “Oh, honey. Our elevator has been broken for five years. Take the stairs.” I raised an eyebrow. A school like Elite had such living arrangements? Still, it seemed like she was on the verge of a tantrum if I asked another question. So, I nodded and made my way, taking the stairs to the top floor. The journey was less than pleasant. Shirtless men and women lounged in the hallways, some even kissing and borderline having sex. Beer bottles littered the ground, and tissues with unknown substances clung to the walls.

Since that day, everyone in the elite class had been training for the midterms examination. They all knew that once they failed the midterms, they would be replaced by the top scorer from the general class so they needed to keep their positions as elites. “Dio, can you assist me again this time?” Mika asked as she prepared the cloak that she would use for the enchantment trial. “Are you serious?” Dio asked as he chuckled. Though he didn’t want to be subjected to another experiment, he wanted Mika to have a great contribution to the exam.

She watched Adrian pack his papers, his movements precise, deliberate, and she waited, heart thrumming, for the moment she’d been rehearsing in her mind since receiving her grade. “Professor Moore?” she asked, her voice slightly tight, almost betraying her nerves. He glanced up, a faint smile brushing his lips. “Yes, Elara. Everything okay?”

He announced to us and began to look around. My heart began to beat faster and my breath became heavier as I hoped he wasn’t going to pick me and he wouldn’t have to focus on everyone for this test. In fact, I wished I actually called in sick and skipped the first class, but now that I was here, there was nothing much I could do. “Alright, Reynold Gray, you’re up first. You’ll have a power struggle with Nolan Ace. Alright, let’s get to it.” the teacher urged them and they both rose to their feet and walked to the front of the class where a table was brought before them.
