On the screen, Sam was a glowing blob of red and orange, radiating heat like a furnace as he made a protein shake.
"See?" Mira said. "Red is hot. Blue is cold. Black is... well, dead. Or inanimate."
Elion looked down at Cale.
Cale was wearing a thick wool turtleneck, despite the humidity. He had shoved hand warmers into his pockets, his socks, and—Elion suspected—his waistband.
"How are you holding up?" Elion whispered, leaning down.
"I am roasting," Cale whispered back. "The chemical packs are burning my skin."
