Emma chuckled. “swearz.” Gracie chuckled too. “… it’s ruined.” Emma groused as her gaze fell on the floor. She knew how much she used to purchase that cocaine.. “too bad. In the box is a small metal cylinder with wires and blinking LED digits counting down. 5…4…3…2…1

I received his reply only two hours later, stating, "You're nine months pregnant, and the due date is imminent, Meryl. You shouldn't be joking about our marriage or our unborn baby in such a manner. You'd better not bring this up again!" I couldn't stop my tears from streaming down my face as I read his response. I longed to think the loss of my baby was a mere illusion, but the profound, hollow ache in my belly was a crushing reality.

"They stay down this time." He glanced at his watch. "Countdown started. Seventy-two hours."

Silence fills the hospital room, and as soon as I feel a nudge on my mind-link, I whisper the countdown. "5" "4" "3" "2"

He looked down at his note. "You know what Jojo? I should join one of those dating apps. I mean, Thomas met his first wife in an app like this, I mean they divorced a year later but they had lived happily three months into their marriage, well till Judy decided Thomas dick wasn't satisfying enough." He shrugged. "But still, who knows my case may be different. Ok, that's it..." He stood up. "Enough with the self pitying, I am going to sign up now." Jojo gave an encouraging whoop. With a smile and a determined look he began till walk away, till he remembered that he needed his phone to sign up and it was still on the couch.
