Brandon I can't believe I'm putting bedsheets over my couch for Emilie Olsson. She is the biggest loser this town has ever seen. She was bullied in middle school and made fun of in high school...now she is a freshman in college, and nothing much has changed. Why? Because the little freak won't speak. I don't understand why. Emilie isn't mute, yet she never defends herself when the girls trip her in the campus corridors. It's fucked up.

It was by the toilets and didn't have comfortable seats, but it was private. As she watched Timmy sipping at the coffee he'd ordered, it was clear to see he didn't like it. She told her story, starting at the point she'd turned up on Adam's doorstep, appealing to him to quit bullying her brother. As she spoke, his eyes widened, and he looked increasingly horrified by her twisted tale. With every messed-up detail and twist she blurted out, Alice also felt increasingly horrified by the story of her life. It bordered on insane and was almost hilarious.

Her heart skipped, and she turned immediately. Standing a few steps away was Stacey. She was one of her classmates who always bullies her in school. Stacey knew Emily’s background and never missed an opportunity to belittle her with her friends. Emily always tried to avoid her and her friends until graduation finally freed her a few months ago. Stacey’s lips curled into a slow, mocking smile as she stepped closer to Emily. “Who am I seeing here?” she asked. “What are you doing here, Emily?” “What do you think I came to do?” Emily asked.

Deep down, she counted on Emily’s gentle nature to stop her from rejecting this. Even with Emily’s brows knitted in frustration and her lips drawn into a scowl, Eve sailed along, pretending nothing was wrong. Thoughts of old wounds clawed at Emily, each memory of being bullied surfacing with an unwelcome clarity. Eve mirrored those bullies, steamrolling right past her strained, broken protests as if her pain meant nothing. Those horrifying bullies hadn't bothered to consider her feelings. Worse, they'd always twisted her words, making her hurt all the more.

“...but everyone else looks at him like a god, an idol. You, on the other hand, look at him like a sad little lost puppy.” My face burned. The laughter was louder, all around me. I wanted to close my ears with my hands, but I knew that that would only make it worse. I was here. I was right in front of Emily, my friend for years. Was I really going to allow her to bully me like I was in high school again? “You are just a sorry piece of shit.” The words came out of my mouth faster than I could think them. The bathroom went silent. All eyes were on me; mouths were agape. For the first time since I was cornered in here, Emily’s face went stiff.

“Who would dare---” The footage played on. Emily, after stumbling, managed to get back up. She wiped her little dress with her tiny hand, sniffling but not crying yet. Then... A hand entered the frame. It reached down, snatched the bunny out of Emily’s arms, and flung it into the water. Cassie let out a sharp cry. “No!” On the screen, Emily gasped, turning her wide eyes to the person. The angle wasn’t clear enough to catch the face, just the outline of an adult figure.

I hug her, not wanting her to see the tears in my eyes. The next morning, we arrived at school, and as soon as we got down from the car, a crowd surrounded us, and I knew what was coming. “Leon, don’t tell you are now with the school cafeteria’s top customer?” A guy said, pulling his head back. “Are you now interested in fat girls? You can probably carry her with all that strength.” The crowd started laughing, but my eyes were focused on Leon. There was a small speck of hope, maybe this time; he would stand up for me.

“I thought you loved hockey so much, you can’t afford to lose it.” Jace’s face turned sullen slowly, his jaw tightened. I could feel he was stuffing it all in, refusing to let it out. I tried to think of what to say again to convince him but then my phone rang beside me. I paused and turned to look at the screen. Quinn texted. ‘Have you seen this?’ I picked up my phone and clicked on the link she sent afterward. It was a video of one of the boys on the team, telling everyone how he was bullied by Jace and how the coach tried to bury it all because of the Carters’ family.

At the same time, Emily was holding her phone, standing bewildered in the restroom in the lobby. A colleague patted her on the shoulder: "Emily, are you okay? Did Winston pressure you to the point of being mentally unstable?" Emily shook her head, then suddenly jumped three feet high, shouting: "Ahhh! He's not angry! He's not angry! He's taking me to the movies, ha ha ha! My love flower hasn't withered yet, ha ha ha ha ha ha, I'm so happy!"

She reads the atmosphere and faces Eros back with a dignified look on her face. All these happened and Eros was oblivious to it. I watch as the director of the movie (I assume) walks over to them. They were discussing something with serious looks on their faces but.. Emily raises her hands and slaps the director. Then she snatches something from the lady standing beside him, scribbles on it and throws it to the floor. It looks like she is done with his agency. Mr Cameron shrugs before breaking the group, waking off as the lady tried her best to pick the contents in the floor. She reminds me of my first year at MELT.
