The Apocalypse Hoarder

The Apocalypse Hoarder

Cyrus reached his conclusion at once. "First, I need to determine how many forms his attacks take." As the devastating snow tornado surged toward them, he opened a Dimensional Gate in front of the snow crawler without hesitation. The gate extended to a radius of 10 feet around Cyrus, just enough to fully shield both the front and rear of the vehicle. The tornado struck in the next instant. Zoey screamed and squeezed her eyes shut. Then, in the blink of an eye, the massive snow tornado vanished. The ground fell silent. Snowflakes drifted down softly, as though nothing had occurred.

Not my Tail!

Not my Tail!

I can imagine them surging into this company with infants and toddlers in their arms, claiming the CEO as theirs. Is this really the same CEO I served under? How so? “And that tail too. It seems securely attached.” He added. My tail. It was supposed to be hidden. But after leaping that high just to reach the door knob before he catches me, my jacket was pulled upward, revealing the tail. In result, he grabbed the tail instead of the jacket hem. It felt awful… “By the way, what happened to your appearance? Did you have a reverse time lapse? Instead of growing old faster, you grew younger?” he asked.

Frequently Asked Questions

I've sunk way too many hours into reading Cyclonus/Tailgate fics, and the ones that stick with me aren't always the obvious ones. Everyone writes about the 'grumpy one is soft for the sunshine one' trope, which is great, but it gets surface-level fast. The really good writers dig into the inherent tragedy of their dynamic—Cyclonus has lived for millions of years, carrying all that weight and loss, while Tailgate's entire existence up to meeting the Lost Light is, like, a blip. Exploring that gap, the sheer impossibility of their timelines ever truly aligning, makes for such bittersweet material. Does Tailgate feel inadequate? Does Cyclonus get frustrated trying to explain things Tailgate can't possibly comprehend? A fic that leaned into that, where their affection is constantly bumping against this massive, silent wall of time, absolutely wrecked me.

Also, post-canon fics where they've settled into something domestic and quiet, but Cyc's old war instincts keep flaring up over nothing, and Tailgate has to gently talk him down. Or the reverse—Tailgate getting bored with peace and accidentally stumbling into trouble, with Cyclonus having to both rescue him and pretend he wasn't worried sick. Their dynamic just has so many layers beyond 'big guy small guy'. The best tropes use their history to complicate the present.
