Chapter 31 "Xander", Kelly yelled in shock. She looked closely at the picture and looked back at Daniel in awe. "How did you get this?", she asked, demanding for explanations. "Well, as we were waiting for him to show up, Daisy spotted her boyfriend, and oh did I mention that Xander is Daisy's boyfriend too?", Daniel said, folding his arms. Kelly looked at him in wonder, "Boyfriend?", she exclamated in surprise. "Yeah, Xander is Daisy's boyfriend.", Daniel confirmed.

"What's going on here?" he asks, a suspicious smile moving at his lips. "Daniel's trying to prove that he's not totally useless," David says, crossing his arms over his chest. "And he's failing.” "Oh, is that right?" I reply, playing offended. "Because I could've sworn that a certain somebody needed my help to take down some rogue just the other day." David snorts. "Right. I had him right where I wanted him. Damien shakes his head but a smile curves on his lips.

“You look familiar.” David also turned to look at Damian… but saw nothing. The mask covered everything except the eyes, and no sense of familiarity stirred in him. “Maybe we crossed paths,” Damian replied. “But I don’t recall. I’m… new here.” A clean lie. Xander’s eyes dropped to the tag. “Dr. Daniel Martins.” Nothing clicked. Damian silently thanked every deity that he wore one of the new uniforms. He stepped back, distancing himself, then turned to David.

“No? I would disagree.” Darius crossed his lanky arms. “We are equals.” Elias spoke up. “Tell us why you’re here, Xavier. Enough.” With characteristic smoothness, Daniel agreed, “Stop trying to irritate us.” He stood with his legs hip-width apart, behind Donald and to the right.

David laughed and waved Daniel off, “If I can't become a king, then I will become a president, so long as I am leading a kingdom or nation to prosperity, it's fine by me.” “What about you, my friend?” I said to Daniel, and I noticed his face turn sad all of a sudden. He turned quieter than usual as he stared into the space. Doesn't he have a plan like his brother's? I said to myself and heard him sigh. “I want to be a soldier, a brave soldier, just like my dad.” Then, it was my turn to go silent for a while. I turned to look at Darwin and David and back at Daniel to see their eyes all on me.

There was an underlying tension between the two men, exacerbated by David's audacious act of kissing Nemesis in Xavier's presence. Observing Xavier as he barked orders at their companions, Nemesis couldn't help but be drawn to his commanding presence.
