Danmachi Light Novel Volume 2 Novels & Stories

Chapter 23: The Lock Gives The outer door burst inward with a sharp metallic tear. Two dark shapes flooded the main room. Muzzle flashes lit the space in brief white bursts. Damien fired twice from the cover of the worktable. One shape dropped hard. The second returned fire and forced Damien lower. Lila pressed her back to the inner wall and kept the weapon raised the way he had shown her. Her hands were steady even though her pulse felt like it might crack her ribs. The residual drug still made her vision swim at the edges, but the fear cut through it clean.

Damian understood the severity of the situation. "I am well aware of that, that is why I am here, but is that what has gotten you in a twist, you don't seem well" Damian asked. "I am fine Damian, we just need to be focused on her now, what is your next plan?" I asked, looking at Damian. "Well, I plan on giving her this" Damian said, stretching a book towards me, the title read "The chronicle of the SIX" "Hmmm, the beginning of everything" I said, agreeing with Damian's choice.

Miss Lan appeared in front of the demon and immediately slashed at him with her technique. "Damn it! Ghost Light!" Miss Lan, who had just slashed, suddenly couldn’t see the Demon, and she felt that her slash hadn’t hit anything. When everything returned to normal, sure enough, the Demon had vanished from her sight. BOOOOOMMMMM.. "I will definitely take my revenge; I, the Blood Demon, will never be afraid! Just wait, you filthy woman—my revenge is coming!"

I clicked on my lighter, but nothing happened. “Here,” and a flame appeared from my right. I leaned in, pulling on my cigarette to get it going. I looked further up the arm, and there stood a young man, probably a little older than me but not a lot. He had a buzzcut, something that looked like he did it himself, with impeccable green eyes. “Don’t mind Ed,” he said, a small smile playing on his lips. “He was born that way, and we can’t seem to change it.” His accent was so thick, I had to concentrate a little to understand what he said. “I’m Liam,” he ended, holding out his hand.

“They’re… wolves, aren’t they?” His gaze softened. “Yes. And so am I.” My lips parted slightly, but I couldn’t speak. He tilted his head, studying me like he could read thought of mine. Then two men appeared behind him. Marcus came in and smiled gently, and another man I hadn’t seen before. His hair was dark, his eyes kind. “This is Darius,” Aiden said, glancing between us. “And that’s Marcus, my Beta.” Darius gave a small, easy smile. “Welcome, Elara. I hope we’re not too frightening.”

Damian. I wasn’t done. Not yet. Not like this. Something in me pushed. Fought. Clawed upward. The darkness resisted. Heavy. Pulling me under. But I pushed harder. Not yet. Light. Faint. But there. The darkness cracked. Slowly. Pain followed. Sharp. Heavy. But real. Alive. I forced my eyes open. Blurry at first. Then— Clear. White ceiling. Machines. And him. Damian. Head lowered slightly, still holding my hand like if he let go—I’d disappear.

Liam pulled me to my feet, steadying me as the chamber lights flickered again. “What’s happening?” I gasped. He grabbed my hand. “The system’s collapsing. We have to move.” We ran through the corridor, the metallic walls cracking with bursts of static. Sparks rained from the ceiling. My heart pounded as we pushed forward, the exit a blur of light ahead. But as we reached the final passage, the air shimmered—and a figure stepped out from the shadows. Damien. He looked different. The calmness that once defined him was gone. His eyes glowed faintly, threaded with blue light. The same light that had pulsed through Liam moments before.

I said, confused—I hadn’t made new enemies. Defending myself wasn’t the problem until they drugged me with something they poured on my face. One of the guys used the effect of the drug to capture me. I fought hard, and before I was thrown into the back of the van, I knew I wasn’t the only one bleeding. I woke up in a dark room, my head sagging backward, tied to a chair. “Let me out of here!” I shouted. The lights came on, revealing everyone in black. One man stepped forward, seated in a black suit, puffing smoke from his stick. I didn’t expect to see him so soon. Caspian Blackwood.

Dom is quick to move, letting the rogues hit one another. Dazed, the wolves stand and shake their heads. This time Dom lunges. He lands on the larger of the two and sinks his teeth into his leg. The rogue howls in pain. Dom lets go, unable to stomach the trashy taste of blood. The other rogue pounces on him, dragging his claws across his chest. Blood oozes out over Dom’s midnight fur. The gray rogue hovers, snapping and clawing. He never relents, making it hard for Dom to regain control. Red fur comes flying through the trees, tackling the rogue. He never stood a chance against my red-headed beauty. She wraps her jaws around his throat, snapping them shut until she hears the bone break.

Damon who witnessed the brutal battle yelled as he dashed towards Vokan whose aura was captivating, Vokan smiled and ducked Damon's punch, grapping him by the neck and in one swing, smashed his head on a metal Rod, causing him to crash on the ground as his blood dripped and spilled all over the metal rod. "You should have escaped when you had the chance, now watch as you die!" Vokan muttered smirkenly as he grapped Damon by the neck and aimed his claws at his head, suddenly, a huge mass of lightening rained from the sky and struck Vokan, causing him to flew backwards and skillfully landed on his feet.
