Isabella POV My thoughts faded away as dante kissed me harder, giving me his tongue. He breathed into my mouth and moaned directly into my lungs and his hand dug into my hair, fisting it as he gathered more hair into his grasp. My hands explored his body, feeling the slabs of concrete all over his physique, his pecs were thick like rocks, and his stomach was marked with grooves between his eight pack even his skin was hot like fire, and my fingertips burned as I touched him. My hands moved to his back next, and I felt all the muscles I’d already stared at.

Dante's POV. The night was quiet, the kind of quiet that made me restless. I found myself in the library, staring at books I hadn’t touched in years. These shelves held pieces of my life I’d locked away, memories I didn’t care to revisit. But tonight, I couldn’t focus on anything. My mind was stuck on her…Elena. She was like a storm, blowing through my life and tearing down everything I thought I knew.

The name on the page wouldn’t stay still. It shifted, swimming around in red ink that bubbled up like blood from a fresh cut. June’s hands wouldn’t stop shaking, and the covers of the wooden book clicked together like bones. “Dante,” June managed, voice barely there. “Look. Dante lit the fuse himself, a tossed flare that ignited the accelerant with a whoosh, flames erupting in a voracious roar. The fire spread greedily, consuming wood, metal, and merchandise alike, black smoke billowing upward in thick columns that choked the stars. Heat blasted outward, but Dante stood firm, watching the destruction with cold satisfaction. This was Alexei's lifeblood, his operations hemorrhaging, one inferno at a time. As the structure groaned and buckled, Dante turned away. "Load up," he growled. "We're not done."

Jon had no idea what his client looked like and could not remember talking to him. "Dante… Dante…" Jon murmured as he recalled the 14th century Italian writer and his Divine Comedy. There were three parts to the epic poem, but for some reason, Jon only thought of the first one – Inferno. The images of hell flooded his mind – tormented souls that reside in the nine circles of hell. For a moment, he thought he could hear cries of anguish and pain as well as see writhing bodies amidst the red flames and scorching heat.

He says Luke's name like it is a dreaded plague, and I swallow in guilt. What the hell have I gotten myself into? I want to leave, to run away and never look back. But I can't. "Don't think you can tease me and get away with it." I felt a shiver run down my spine as his lips trailed down my neck, sending sparks flying through my body. I realized, too late, that I had underestimated Dante di Benedetto. He wasn't just a man without emotions; he was a man with a hidden depth, a man who could ignite a fire within me with just one touch.

The book slipped from my fingers but he was faster. Mr. Dante’s hand shot out and snatched it midair, the veins in his forearm tightening. His jaw was locked, and his blue eyes burned into me, sharp and furious.

That at least gave me the strength to want to keep going. "Believe it or not, neonata...” Dante whispered, running his finger over my lower back “I am even luckier knowing that I have a mate who is more than willing to stand strong beside me, fighting the battles that we both know are painful. You didn’t lose yourself or your morals despite everything that you’ve seen and been through, and that only proves to me how beautiful your heart is”
