We didn't let the darkness win. END OF VOLUME ONE

Darkness closed in. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"You’re the one who whispered to me in the dark when the Council was carving into my bones. You’re the 'Extinction' they were so afraid of." The figure—the Red-Winged Dante—stepped into the light. It was a perfect, terrifying blend of us. It had Dante’s lethal, massive frame and his predator’s stance, but from its spine erupted a pair of wings that were an exact, burning replica of mine. They weren't made of "Void-Lead" or "Obsidian-Gold." They were made of Primal Fire, a deep, arterial red that seemed to drink the light from the room.

They are blinded by emotions that I had successfully kept away from me. If humans were made from a color. Maybe wine which was a darker shade of red itself, then I was made from an even darker shade and the darkness that I had embraced for years had now become a part of me that would never fade. As I sensed some movements in the dimly lit alley, a subtle rustling that sent a chill down my spine. Instinctively, I tightened my grip on her hand, preparing myself for the unknown. Four figures materialized from the darkness, their menacing presence unmistakable, they were Lycans. Among them, one stood out, adorned in a reddish-white royal robe that billowed around its powerful frame. Its eyes burned with an intense crimson glow, captivating and unnerving simultaneously. This was no ordinary encounter; I was being ambushed by the infamous Red Fang Pack.

I cut in. “What do you mean?” Delsanra asks. “The key lies within the darkness. What if that is literally the answer? Judah got in. He is a fucking evil bastard. Maybe it’s those who have darkness within them who can open this shit?” I say, each passing moment feeling like years. I need to get to them. “Darkness…” Delsanra says and nods. “My demon side… maybe it will work!” The entire place rumbles again, and I faintly hear an explosion in the distance.

I didn’t even doubt that this darkest one would turn out to be a catcher, and maybe there would even be several of them. I felt pain in my bare feet and biting blows of branches on my face, as if in reality, but this time something went wrong, the forest ended, and I fell out into a clearing that was flooded with moonlight. (Deacon POV) Red. Rouge. Crimson. All I could see was red. My vision was clouded with blood red. Red with anger. Fury. Rage. And that was just me, forget about my wolf! He wanted blood.
