Dead at Heart

Dead at Heart

She started planning for Elena's third death anniversary. Katie viewed the third death anniversary with great importance. It signified a closure point of the grieving process, and it was a significant occasion for the older generations. It was two weeks to Elena's third death anniversary. Ariel still had time to prepare.

people are cruel to you because you allow them to.so, it's unfair that Ariel feels like people around her abused and used her, it's her fault. she should not blame them and doesn't have the right to take revenge. most books are written this way, aren't writers tired for the same usual storyline?

There are two turning points (my favorite scenes) for me. First, when Colton insisted on calling Ariel ‘Mrs. Larkin’ instead of ‘Ms. Walker.’ Second, when Jayson referred to Ariel as ‘your sister-in-law’ to Renee after Ariel got her highest score. Both happened after they were already divorced.

"And people pay a lot of money to feel like they’re part of a great story. But now, the story is over. It’s time for the analysis." They led me down a hallway that seemed to go on forever. It was filled with rows of tanks—thousands of them. Some were empty; others held wolves, children, and elders. All of them were sleeping, dreaming of worlds that didn't exist.

Playing Dead and Breaking the Don-To-Be

Playing Dead and Breaking the Don-To-Be

It's closure. As the wind blew, the petals of the white roses swayed gently. I remembered the alley in the slums eight years ago, where he wore a clean suit and handed me a piece of bread. I remembered him smiling after taking the lashes and saying, "From now on, I'll protect you." Those images flashed like a movie reel, finally ending on him lying on the ground and using the last of his strength to call my name. "Addio, Vincenzo." I turned away, never looking back. "In your next life, don't love someone this way. And don't make anyone wait."
