Pandora is walking along the railing and Binx is stretched out on the chair next to me, enjoying sunbathing as much as I am. I’m waiting for my lunch to arrive, and then will probably go back inside and take a nap. Lucas looked through the Book of the Beast and didn’t see anything about how to kill demons. There was, however, a chapter that alluded to sending a demon back to Hell. Which would be great if I were able to summon up enough power to crack open the earth and shove the fucker inside.

“We were not to be part of this spectacle.” He and the others had been quite content to watch this ‘spectacle’ just a few moments ago. The irony of Ambrose’s words was laughable, but she kept her face blank and her internal chuckles to herself. After his squire and supposed surprise gift a week ago, Knight Ambrose grace his presence in Countess Castle, telling her to absorb the plan on stealing the codex of demon. Also referred to as the Demon's book, it was a massive tome, written thirty years ago by a priest who was said to have made a deal with the Devil to finish it.

I finally felt alive. “But…” He then put on a serious expression. “We found a rare chemical in your blood. “There isn’t a name for it on the market. “However, in the black market, the name of it is ‘Angel’s Kiss’.” Angel’s Kiss? It sounded beautiful, but I could not help but shiver. “It’s an experimental drug that can control someone’s nervous system. “Its main purpose is to brainwash someone. With a large dosage, the person will lose consciousness and become a puppet.

“Or is it the alcohol? Stronger than it used to be, huh?” I just stared at him, rigid, trembling, brain short-circuiting. He sighed again and grabbed a handful of his dreadlocks with his free hand. “You’re stiff as a noble at his own beheading. Relax. I’m not here to hurt you. Promise.” When I felt his grip loosen, I smacked his hand away and stumbled back. “What the fuck are you?” He raised a brow. “A demon, of course. You summoned me, remember?” My jaw dropped. “You’ve got to be kidding me. A demon? What kind of sick joke is this? Demons don’t exist.”

I had to move fast. I turned through the pages of the spell book with shaky hands until I finally settled on what I was searching for. “Thrakos, Demon of the Underworld, Lord of Hell,” I whispered, my fingers tracing the forbidden verse. “He who commands the forbidden flames of the devil's domain,” my voice grew louder, desperation etched in my eyes, "I call thee, Thrakos. I summon thee to the mortal realm. Kneel before–” The sound of thunder cracking cut me short before I could complete my words. The ground began to rumble and the circle I had engraved on the ground expanded outwards as dark smoke clouded the entire place.

I stared at the title. Grim Boundaries, Containment Rituals and Demonic Anchors. Alright. That was on the nose. I tugged it free. It thudded onto the table like it weighed more than it should. The pages were vellum-thin, covered in curling script and ink illustrations that danced uncomfortably close to realism. Demons, mostly. Circles. Knots. Symbols. Some looked familiar from childhood fairy tales, horror movies, that phase in college when I thought being into witchcraft was a personality.

With a sigh, El-Kharis turned away from the sleeping princess and slipped out of the room, closing the door softly behind him. In the dimly lit hallway, a group of demons approached, their eyes glinting with suspicion and curiosity. One of them, a tall demon with rough, scarred skin and glowing red eyes, stepped forward. "Lord," he growled, "we heard rumors of a human in the castle. Is it true?" El-Kharis's eyes narrowed. "It is none of your concern," he replied, his voice cold. "Leave now." The demon scoffed. "None of our concern? After what the humans have done to us? We deserve to know!"

The wind carried a whisper through the gardens — the sound of ghosts finally silenced. “Because in the end,” Castelle’s voice narrated softly, “even demons can build a home… and even tainted desires can be reborn as love.” — THE END

No…that doesn’t sound right because the book is filled with spells, not really answers on what is going on or what the future holds. “About that…” Eve speaks up, grabbing the attention of everyone in the room. “I kind of have the book back in the Demon Realm.” Levi glares at his mother. The familiar flare of his anger shoots through the mate bond, fortelling the rising storm that is quickly building inside of him. “I have been trying to find the right time to bring it up.” Eve quickly explains. Judging by her face, even she knows it is a lame excuse. “Have it here by the end of the day.” Levi orders, his demonic aura seeping out to strengthen his command.
