Alpha Eric rubbed the aches out of his tired neck. He was getting too old for things like this.  Time stood still, no one said a word. My father’s eyes were wide as saucers and I could sense a strange emotion from him. Fear? No, that couldn’t be right.  My eyes slowly flutter open, and I look around, Samantha is sitting on the floor with her legs under the coffee table, some files and paperwork are spread out on the table and she is looking through them and taking notes. The TV is on and occasionally, she stops working and looks at the screen. I look at the TV, not recognizing the show but a couple of the characters are also hanging on her wall so it must be one she enjoys.
