She saw me standing in the doorway and dismissed the class immediately. "Aurora," she said. Her eyes went to the leather journal in my hands. "What's that?" I walked toward her slowly. "It's Ayda's diary," I said. "I found it hidden in the old house. In the basement." Sloane went very still. Her face lost all colour. "May I?" she asked quietly. I handed it to her. Sloane opened it carefully. Her hands were shaking slightly. She read the first page. Then the second. Her eyes moved faster and faster across the words.

"Why did Zayden have to hide this book from me? He should have given it to me so I could remember it," Olivia muttered. Olivia was seated in the corner of her room, the dim light from the table lamp highlighting the tattered diary. She began to open the diary, page after page, filled with her own handwriting that now felt so foreign. In her head, every word and story contained a fragment of a long-lost memory.

Whitmore stands gaping at my diary. "Oh, wow! I didn't know you were a fan of Miss.OG, Ms. Sanders." He said turning the pages and reading my oh-so-difficulty collected handiwork. I sighed in relief. Good, the jerk hasn't figured it out yet. So I decided to play along. "Yes Sir. I'm a really big fan of hers. Well, you know hormonal teenagers, exam and college stress and all that..." I trailed off, laughing nervously. He frowned, thinking. And I took the opportunity to grab a hold of my diary and make a run for it. I snatched the diary from his hands and turned tail.

Even Ben backed up, knowing this was strictly between us girls. I had to think fast. “Did you check the other stall?” I tossed out quickly. “I was feeling a little sick, thought I was going to throw up. Probably shouldn’t have downed that last screwdriver so fast – I’m sorry I couldn’t answer you.” Man, I hated lying. But what was I supposed to say? Oh, I was here the whole time, but the vampire made us invisible? Yeah – I’m not into padded rooms, thank you.

I just got it out, but before I can hide it, Leya comes into the room. She's a normal girl and her butt isn't fat anymore; she's lost weight since we were ten. I whispered. Meg nodded. The walls were empty. There wasn't a single picture in sight. Minutes turned into hours, and frustration threatened to consume us. Just as the doubt began to seep into the room, Meg's eyes landed on a small diary hidden beneath a stack of papers in a box. Her fingers, now trembling slightly, reached out and delicately retrieved it. "I think this is it," Meg whispered, her voice barely audible. "Come look at this." On the cover were the initials A.M. written in block letters. A.M. Alec McCain.

Her diary. I felt around blindly, my fingers tracing the lines of an old, wooden chest. I found the catch and undid it. There, under a thin layer of dust, was a leather-bound book. Lira Mooncrest's diary. I grasped it firmly, a silent prayer on my lips. I caught the sound of a noise above me. The floorboards creaked. I remained motionless, my heart pounding in my chest. My name was spoken in a low, male voice, and then there were footsteps, slow and strained.

It was a double-drawer compartment under the floor of his study. "Oscar's study! There's a double-drawer in the floor!" Olivia exclaimed. David and Olivia immediately rushed to Oscar's study. David pushed aside the heavy carpet and quickly located the mechanism to open the hidden compartment. Inside, they found several neatly folded documents, a small flash drive, and most surprisingly, an old diary belonging to Oscar. Olivia took the diary with trembling hands. On the first page, written in bold, was:
