The air in the room thickened, vibrating like a held breath. I stared up at her, blood streaking down my chin, and whispered, "I'm done being weak." Something deep within me stirred, wild and ancient. The air shifted around us, a subtle hum that made the bedside lamp flicker. The sheets rustled even though neither of us moved. Tilda's breath hitched. I saw it, the first flicker of fear. Heat coiled through my veins, crawling up my spine like fire waking from a long sleep. The shadows in the corners of the room seemed to stretch closer, as if drawn to me.

Each whisper seemed to ingrain itself deeply within her psyche, leaving an indelible mark that she feared she would never erase. As she sat there, a sudden wave of chills descended upon her, causing her body to tremble involuntarily. A profound sense of coldness seemed to seep into her very bones, leaving her feeling numb and vulnerable. It was as though an icy hand was gripping her tightly, constricting her every movement.

Fear gripped my throat, constricting my vocal cords, making it nearly impossible to form coherent sentences. Carmine closed the distance between us, each step calculated and deliberate, my heart pounded in my chest, a steady rhythm of fear and anticipation. His mere presence exuded danger, enveloping me in an invisible cloak of unease. I couldn't help but feel small and vulnerable in the face of his imposing figure.

Black darkness. But you feel things. And I feel that something bad is about to happen. I can feel it in my bones. They are trembling with a chilling sense of fear—the kind that you want to escape from, because you know it'll give you permanent damage… but you're too helpless to run. Or perhaps I'm dreaming… and it's the cold, damp air of the hour blowing through the open window of my bedroom. A cold wave washed my chest. And a hyena—no, hyenas... there are two of them—they are laughing....

The femme appears again, halting him with a hand on his arm, and they pause, as do I, as I feel what has alerted her. Like a soft breeze of iciness, tinged with dread, which moves along the ground and through the plants, like a carpet of fog. A sense of suddenly not being alone as something atmospheric sets your teeth on edge and your hair rises on your body. It’s what fear feels like when it comes at a slow creep and overcomes all of your senses, making you immobile and frozen without any will to escape. I feel it as it seeps into my every fiber, and it pauses my breath as the terror takes a chokehold.

A pressure much like having someone sit on your chest. "I am fear." Came a whisper through the dark. ... "So I fear nothing." The whisper began to sound more ominous with each passing word. Sending a chill down their spines. Imagine the cold touch of a monster tracing your bare spine in the pitch black. "But you." Two small Violet glowing orbs lit up in the darkness ... ... "You will fear me!" The voice let out a pitched roar, sounding as if it had never been identifiable as a human's.

Hilda The first thing I feel is the cold. A sharp, creeping chill that seeps into my bones, settling beneath my skin like frost in the dead of winter. It’s wrong. Unnatural. The kind of cold that isn’t caused by wind or lack of warmth, but by something evil spearing you with its gaze.

I’d only shut it after he left, too shaken to think clearly. A cold wave of fear washed over me, and I stood there, frozen. My gaze stayed fixed on the door, as though willing it to stay closed. But then, faintly, I heard it. Footsteps. Slow. Steady. Getting closer. “Oh, fuck,” I muttered under my breath, my legs threatening to give out.

Maybe I am feeling cold because of my fear. The king is standing in front of me. Maybe he was already waiting for me. I don’t look at his face because I don’t want to see what his expressions hold today. I don’t want to see the fake love mixed with lust in his eyes. With my eyes cast downward, I take slow steps toward the king to prolong the time before I reach him. With each step I take, I feel a new course of fear rush into my veins. My hands are becoming colder and my heartbeat is increasing at a faster rate. I cannot look up in the eyes of the king without his permission. I am scared of the king and don’t want to anger him at any cost.
