His eyes sparkled with remorse, so deep I could clearly see it. I see him gulp and look down at the ground. Slowly, I feel his hands grip my legs like a statue on a pedestal, praying for forgiveness of his sins, leaving me frozen in place. I blink down at him. “For everything I’ve done, for treating you less than you deserve, and for not being there when you needed me and our son. I regret it. All of it.
