“There’s a diner ahead.” About ten minutes later, they pulled over beside an old roadside diner with faded signs and warm lights glowing through the windows. Rivera loved it immediately. “Can I have a refill?” a customer held up a cup. “Absolutely,” she said retrieving the carafe from its hot plate and filled the cup without missing a beat. Mike eyed the simple, two-sided menu finding many traditional fair foods and fast food options: mostly fried or grilled. There was nothing trendy but this kind of menu was also rather nostalgic. In fact the diner itself with the interior décor harkening to the fifties and would be quite familiar to anyone who had lived it. He hadn’t intended to order anything but now a short stack sounded good.

Evan and another guy were laughing so hard they had tears in their eyes. “That was so fucking funny dude, the way Stevie and El almost puked...” The guy with Evan was saying, then he was abruptly slapped in the chest, and yelled at by one of the girls, “Shhh, Finn!” He quickly shut up and looked around the diner, they all stood as still as we were. DRE’S P.O.V The diner was exactly how I imagined one in this part would look, it was very old-fashioned. It had the classic red vinyl booths, checked floors, and a juke box in the corner playing modern music, to my surprise, instead of the old classics I assumed they’d play. The waiters were ridiculously nice too.

I was starving, so I just picked up my plate and started eating. Unexpectedly, Jenny snatched the plate from my hand, her voice sharp and piercing. "Why are you acting as if you've never eaten in ages? We haven't even split the cost of the dinner yet! Why are you eating? 326 dollars. Pay me now!" I thought I misheard her. "Did you say 326 dollars? I'm paying half by myself?" Jenny spoke as though she were utterly justified. "Yes! You're an outsider. You can't just come to our house and eat and drink for free, can you?"

After I got to dinner, I changed into my work clothes, and began my shift. Everything was normal until Rider Blackwell walked into the diner. He was the leader of the Eastwood gang and the owner of a club called 'the blue gypsy,' where Sophia works as a manager/waitress, so I see him once in a while when I go see Sophia after she finishes working at the club.
