"There it is," Vasilisa's voice came from behind a mountain of walnut-sized raw rubies. It wasn't hard to find the book. It was placed on a golden stand in between two golden Sirin statues. The grimoire turned out to be the largest book Cassandra had ever seen, with pages made of parchment illuminated with tracery, and it was open to a page thickly covered with elegant, intricate writing.

There was a table. Books stacked on it. Not like the ones I used to see at home. These looked older. Some of them had markings on the covers I didn’t understand. I walked closer. My fingers hovered over one of them before I touched it. The cover felt rough. Worn. I opened it slowly. The pages were filled with symbols. Not letters. Not words I knew. Shapes. Lines. Things that looked like drawings but weren’t. I frowned. “What is this…?” I flipped a page.

"You have a corruption. A twisted imitation. She has the river. You have a dam about to break." Nathan's smile falters. "You're wrong." "I'm ancient. And I know the difference between evolution and abomination. You're the latter." Purple energy explodes from Nathan in a wave. It slams into Aldara. She throws up a golden shield but the force drives her back. "Stop him!" I shout. The twenty corrupted hybrids charge. And the battle for Iron Valley begins.

I saw streaks of blood on the pendant and knew that it had been with Gideon through many life-and-death situations. How could I possibly accept it?

His long, pointed ears and grayish skin revealed that he was a Drow, better known as Dark Elves, a relative of the High Elves and Wood Elves. He wore a midnight black long-sleeved shirt, the buttons on this were gold and on his chest, on each side he had a small pocket that could be opened by unfastening the button that held it, on his back he had the symbol of Damenburg Castle, the intertwined tree. Beneath him he wore a set of black pants. He also wore a pair of fine leather high boots and from his belt hung a sword that resembled an elegant needle, it was a Rapier.
